Archibald Failover

Posted (September 14th, 2006 at 7:28 pm PST) by glen

The web server Archibald is being failed over to new hardware. It had been crashy throughout the day with high loads . This shouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes, and it won’t affect email and mysql at all.

Sorry about the trouble.

I don’t know where else to post this. It’s 0248Z and the panel is not working. I can get the login page, but after entering my username and password and submitting the form, I get a socket error, in three different browsers (Firefox, Konqueror, and links2). Since I can’t use the panel to contact support… Am I the only one having this problem?

Well, quite strangely, I hit the back button, then refreshed, and then it loaded the after-login page. There’s always been something weird about the panel…

If panel is down, email support@dreamhost.com
If email is down, uhh… Jack & Coke, then come back later. :)

I’ve had this problem when browsing behind a caching server… my firewall at work used to provide “web caching” where it would keep copies of often browsed pages. Sometimes it would break ssl protected pages. I’ve also heard ISP’s using these in oversold areas to lower the load on the pipe out of your area.

None of my email is forwarding at all. I’ve been having this problem for the past week and it’s still not resolved. Server fix didnt do anything for me.

Anonymous, if your email is set to forward to AOL or Comcast addresses, that isn’t allowed anymore.
