Problems with Cheeky!
Posted (September 15th, 2006 at 9:34 pm PST) by BrianWe’re having a bit of a problem with some of cheeky’s web servers, so some domains on it may appear down. We’re currently working on the problem and will update as soon as it’s fixed!
Update Fri Sep 15 22:52:57 PDT 2006: Cheeky’s problems couldn’t be resolved on the old hardware, so we moved it to new hardware. It is fully online now, and the configs to get all the webservers are running currently, they should be finished soon.

Same here. There must be something wrong with the CP!!!!!
Yup, can’t access the panel either.
My websites are ALWAYS slow. Server atm: 208.97.133.135 (www.thaler-online.com)
From Italy and from Germany.
Hey all, I’m going to post a link to my blog to hopefully bring something to the attention of the Dreamhost community: http://adterrasperaspera.com/blog/2006/09/16/company-suckscom-gone-wrong-dreamhost-suckscom/
Our three webs http://www.animangaweb.com http://www.aristasweb.com and http://wwwartistasweb.com are down from three hours ago…. Thats no normal
MySQL DB server is too slow…… now it even can’t load my forums! What’s wrong with this server?! HTTP is working OK, but MySQL is down all the time or slow to the point of agony.
Somebody must have unplugged ethernet cable out form server!!! Turn it back
Server is: apache2-argon.pringle.dreamhost.com (208.113.128.178)
MySQL DB slow here…. hard to load forums.
Server is: apache2-linus.dingdong.dreamhost.com (208.113.141.77)
I can not even get to my site to get the live data to move off thier servers on to my new account with http://hosting.aplus.net/unixhosting.html
Oh, but its okay cause after all the will tell us theres a problem and be all nice about the fact that odviously do not have a freaking care in the world about thier customers or thier network.
Arghhh!
They’re still down - I can’t reach cheeky.gr nor blobbit.com
The amount of downtime I’ve been experiencing is seriously beginning to annoy me.
I really like Dreamhost, but I’m getting to the point where I’m considering chargebacks and alternative hosting companies.
Please sort this out….pweeese!
this is a joke at this point, you guys should be embarassed, cant wait to get me sites to a real host already. Pathetic incompetence
To Cheeky -
you can’t compare Dreamhost with any greek hosting company. Sorry but this is the truth…
To all the people who complain all the time -
Is your site used for business? Then go away if you feel Dreamhost is hurting your business. But if your site is a hobby, please stop this nonsense. Your complaints are not productive. At all.
Maria, I think it’s fair complain about a service that I’ve paid for that doesn’t work more often than it does.
And what do Greek hosting companies have to do with anything?
You should turn blog comments back off. There’s no need for them.
Cheeky, I think she may have meant geek. Anyway, I agree with you. We pay money for the service and my sales have dropped since problems began at least 6 weeks ago. I use a monitoring service and my load times are dismal three or four days out of seven. Maria, leaving is not an option that you do at the drop of a hat. I’ve been with dreamhost for three years now and always recommended them to other people. I don’t want the inconvenience of moving 15+ sites. I just want the problems resolved.
I’m still having problems right now. I uploaded some changes and they are not showing (even after I refresh 20 times) And my load time is still slow.
I work in Information Technology and have never seen so many problems before with hardware in my life. What is it a war room in your server room? Stop playing paintball and do some preventative maintenance.
OK…I believe that the top of this blog clearly states that no one from the support group reads the comments…also i believe that if you wan to send an email request in you need to have your panel username and account number in the subject line like so [myusername 13216135] rest_of_subject_line.
And as many others have said…where is your back up plan. If you have a critical business and you use dreamhost, you should have a backup plan/system some where else. Personally, I have a business site hosted here and i’ve got my website also running on servers at my home….yeah it will be really slow if i have to run off of them, but the site is still up and with tweaking (pc running linux for the router) you should be able to handle a moderate load.
And if Dreamhost is really such a terrible company, put a sock in your mouth and go someplace else…this isn’t the place to bitch and moan.
I dont see why all of you are bitching; I own 9 domains and none of them are terribly slow. the majority of them dont have any problem at all asided from a .25Second load time differantial. What I see is a gathering of twelvle year olds using their parents credit cards just to cause problems. You can contact support by email; you just need to use your registed email with your info in it, else they’ll ignore it, like RTFP said. Though that should be RTFM
If you dont have a backup plan then you deserve everything you get.
They must of fixed a lot of problems. Usually, I’ll see 600+ open support tickets. Today, I went to submit something and only 301 open support tickets. Neat.
I’m new here and in the process of moving my sites over as we speak. However, reading these latest complaints on this status site has me concerned.
I’m realistic enough to expect problems from time to time. My biggest concern is that I run several PHP/MySQL heavy sites. Some are PHPbb, some shopping carts and some are large sites custom coded. Is this going to be a problem with DH?
I’m coming from a Dedicated hosting where I had to pay a separate company to manage the server. It is getting very expensive and half the time no one can fix my problems there because of a large communication gap.
I figured here with one staff things would be smoother. And after getting recommendations from fellow friends I started up an account.
Now I just hope I won’t be sorry for it down the road.
while trying to access one of my forums I got this message:
SQL error: Table ‘./legendary_forum/ibf_cache_store’ is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed
SQL error code:
Date: Saturday 16th 2006f September 2006 01:56:41 PM
So I guess things went pretty bad if databases start crashing?
I’ll make this short because I don’t know if it will be caught in your filter or not.
I posted mixed reviews of Dreamhost on your blog, partly positive, partly frustrated, always professional and respectful… and all nothing compared to some of the criticism that you’ve received here lately… yet you’ve deleted them and despite the fact that your spam error message says that I should email the blog admin, there is no blog admin email.
I have no idea whether my few comments were retroactively deleted by a script you have running or whether, which seems more likely, your blog admin got offended because I tried to reach him (like your error message said to do) and just deleted them.
I believe this is very unprofessional. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Patrick McFarland, this is my only criticism of your blog post:
http://adterrasperaspera.com/blog/2006/09/16/company-suckscom-gone-wrong-dreamhost-suckscom/
[submitted with a new email address to see if this bypasses your so-called spam filter... you've even blocked my compliment for getting my site back up running fast... if you can explain this, I really would appreciate it; if you just delete this, well, that pretty much explains it in my eyes]
Every single one of my webpage links goes to a blank page. And it’s been like this for the past 30 minutes. Any eta when it will be back up?
Panel seems to be down again…..
Hey, my panel is down!!!!!!!!
If you’re getting blank pages and using Wordpress, you need to read through wiki.dreamhost.com.
why did you guys delete my message? my site has been down for nearly an hour now. i was just curious to know what’s going on. this isn’t spam, i wouldn’t be doing this if nothing was wrong. please try to help us.
I’m not using word press. it’s a simple PHP document where i just echo text. It’s down again. I cant believe i fronted 2 year subscription again for this service.

I can’t contact support because your only means of opening a support ticket is via the panel. Catch 22.
