Thank you for the update. 60-90 minutes won’t eat much of our time. As long as we know what’s going on it doesn’t matter.

Dreamhost definitely has grown rather large rather quickly- something they ought not to be ashamed of! Understandably, this often means a lot of (unplanned) hiccups and a lot of (untrained) staff problems. In my opinion, they're doing a good job and still giving a good product.

Not impressed, however, with guys coming here and spamming about other host companies. Seriously BAD for the company they're trying to promote – that kind of thing does harm to the image, rather than bringing business.

"I wasn’t spamming. Nor do I work for them, or have even heard of them before this morning."

So you were promoting a host that you know absolutely nothing about. Exactly how does that help anyone make an informed decisions about anything?

"Name calling, always a classy move."

Don't spam if you don't like being called out on it. And nothing is less classy than promoting other hosts on DH's site, so get a clue before lecturing others on class.

"Why would Snagglepuss cause my site to be offline today, no FTP, and no MySQL access?"

Who said it does? Does this look like the contact support form that's in the control panel to you?

Sam, your repeated spamming of this blog to promote WestHost is not appreciated.

I was frustrated with and somewhat critical of DreamHost and contemplated moving... I decided not to because of the great responses I've received from customer service on unrelated issues lately, the fact that the communication here and at the DreamHost Offical blog has been top notch (and conciliatory), and because thing have gotten better for my sites and email.

Your constant promoting of this site is offensive, DreamHost will probably allow your comment because they're pretty laid back, but as someone who in a fair minded way sees both the reasons for the valid criticism of the way DreamHost handled their network expansion **in the past** and the excellent stand out way DreamHost handles communication, I find your sales patter distasteful.

Just go already. And don't let the door hit you on the way out.

"I wasn’t spamming. Nor do I work for them, or have even heard of them before this morning. Someone mentioned Westhost in a post, I had just been looking at the site (among others, busily working Google today.) I merely commented on his post."

So, you're recommending people change to a host you know absolutely nothing about. Are you sure you want to deny being dumb?

"Name calling, always a classy move."

I wouldn't call identifying a spammer as a spammer as name-calling. And nothing is less classy than promoting a competitor on DH's site. Get a clue before you lecture on class.

"Why would Snagglepuss cause my site to be offline today, no FTP, and no MySQL access?
If someone can intellegently answer this, I would appreciate it. "

Who said there's a connection? Does this look like the support ticket section of the control panel to you? If you have a support question, why not ask support? What did you think making yourself look stupid here would accomplish that asking support wouldn't?

Actually we have over 1000 active servers so that changes the statistics a bit.

We have RAID 10 on our MySQL servers but in this case the RAID card itself died so we just moved the drives to a new server. If it had just been a matter of a drive dying it wouldn't have been an issue.

Just FYI....

Thanks for the update Jason.

I'm like you. I was totally happy with DH for almost a year. But the last month or two is killing me. The fact that I haven't left yet is becuase I want to give them all the benefit of the doubt (or maybe it's because I'm "dumb" as one poster would say...)

I keep hoping "this time will be it! she'll be fixed for good!"

Mike:
"Rob, you are spamming a company that doesn’t even have IMAP? Is that because you’re dumb, or because you work for them and you’re dumb?"

I wasn't spamming. Nor do I work for them, or have even heard of them before this morning. Someone mentioned Westhost in a post, I had just been looking at the site (among others, busily working Google today.) I merely commented on his post.

"I didn’t say one fails every day. That was an example to put things in perspective. If you thought they really went down every day, your newest claim is that your server has never been up?"

I have no idea what you're talking about. I asked a serious question. Why is my site down nearly every day, no matter what server is having problems? I am supposedly on Crenshaw and Jones. Why would Snagglepuss cause my site to be offline today, no FTP, and no MySQL access?

If someone can intellegently answer this, I would appreciate it.
