Yep, that is a lot of packet loss.

Would this problem cause e-mail clients to reject username/password authentication? I’ve had this problem with three different DH accounts over the past 24 hours.

None of our domains are working (roney.com.br, i4b.com.br, lanchasbrasil.com.br, qualitah.com.br, supervideopro.com.br, claudiabelhassof.com.br, cohencerimonial.com.br, bolsadefitas.com.br and sitio300.com.br).

…if i could access my site i’d hook you up :p
seriously though,
thanks for the quick responses on all of the problems.
i manage domains for people on other hosting companies, none of them have a blog so up to the minute.
gotta hand it to DH for being on top of it and open, with any and all server problems.

My sites on selma are down once more. System-wide support confirms it’s not just me. Maybe I’ll go play outside or something. I hear they have this thing called “sunshine” now…
October 5th, 2006 at 4:34 pm
too bad ya can’t host your web service on “sunshine”–even in the pacific northwest it’s more reliable than selma.

You know, this is really getting ludicrous. Selma has had problems for over a month. Yesterday, we’re told it completely crashed (after 2 days of downtime) then we’re told that hardware had been replaced. Now, the site has been down again for several hours. I’ve been with Dreamhost less than a year and actually pay more for the service than i was previously. My previous host was nearly half the price, but twice as reliable (1 crash in 5 years). I only have 7 sites, but they’ve all been down nearly as much as they’ve been up.
I’ve asked to be moved to something more reliable for more than month now and have been told in every instance that “everything is fine now…no more problems”. Sorry guys, but I think it’s time for me to move on.

down again!!!!

My sites are all on cheeky and they’re all down. WTH?
October 5th, 2006 at 4:45 pm
Another day, another outage. What’s more reliable than the sun coming up in the East? My site being down.
October 5th, 2006 at 4:54 pm
Wow. Here we go again. Go figure. I wonder how reliable GoDaddy or IPower or one of the other hosts are?
October 5th, 2006 at 5:03 pm
Personally I’m pretty sure DH are the best hosts in their class.
I’ve used a lot of hosts, and they’re either worse than DH stability wise, or considerably more expensive. (often crappy and expensive)
To be honest, anyone who hosts critical/commercial stuff of DH is how shall i put this? “Special”. If you want a reliable host do it yourself and spend $100+/mo
Also, I suspect there’s not an issue with selma herself this time, but an issue connecting to her due to other issues. archibald is currently dead for me.

My sites are down again. I guess I’m part of the club.

both of my sites are down

Sites are back up and thanks. I believe it was related to the switch trouble described in the just publishedc “More Switch Troubles” post.

I’m having the same e-mail authentication problem mentioned by Ryan Cannon above. What gives? Both e-mail accounts on my DH-hosted domain have the same problem. It’s very annoying, made more so by the sporadic nature of the problem. Sometimes it authenticates just fine, but every five minutes or so, it fails. Is this related to lost packets, perhaps? Whatever it’s related to, I’d really like it to be fixed. Soon.

is this issue affecting mysql servers?
