Panel Issues and One-Click Install Emails

Posted (October 15th, 2006 at 6:41 pm PST) by glen

The issues with delayed user creations and one-click Installs has been cleared up by our admin team. During this fixing and troubleshooting process there was a 2nd bug created that effected many users. One-Click install emails were dispatched to a large amount of customers, despite the fact that no changes had been made on their account . If you haven’t used the one-click system in the last few days, you can safely just disregard it.

Thanks for the update, perhaps a bit long overdue as far as many of us are concerned. Any word on why a lot of folks had their servers and webmail go down today? I know in my case, Burns was out for over an hour.

All my sites are on and off right now as well. Still waiting on verification from the panel.

ditto. sites are down.

Or rather, sites are down… and it should have nothing to do with one-clicks.

and back up again…

Dude, then why are you reporting it here? “Panel Issues and One-Click Install Emails” doesn’t sound like a “site down” kind of thread.

And dude, 2 minutes is TOO QUICK to be reporting up and down. Either that or you need to back off on the caffiene…

“There are many decaffeinated brands that tast just as good as the real thing…”

Name the movie and you can bitch 3 more times without me complaining.

So that explains it!

I was wondering why I received a one-click install e-mail when I hadn’t installed anything.
Thanks for the info.

Interesting to follow the discussion here. I am thinking of hosting at Dreamhost.

Hey Norman, DH isn’t bad. There are companies that are more solid, but cost is a factor as well. I’ve also dealt with companies that are no cheaper that are a LOT less transparent about their problems. I have to admit, I’m a bit of a sucker for the personal touch though.

It’s “affected many users”, not “effected many users”. Sigh… English is dying a slow death.

the server has been down earlier today.
also your feeds on this blog don’t worjk. i dunno maybe they aren;t being sent as content tye xml or whatever. its just displaying as a normal plain text page and i cant add it to live bookmarks.

use feedburner (.com) - theyre well good.

nilla appears to be fubar - responding to ping but can’t get a shell, no HTTP response, etc.

Thank you for your e-mail. I was feeling rather lonely today, having not received any e-mail from anyone in days. I think your e-mail has kept me from doing something rash –like picking up the phone and talking to someone live. Yuck! DH rox!

Zim’s got three bitches for free! Congrats.

Our next contest…

Ash, I know it feels like a waste but have you reported your RSS issues to DH on their support line?

LOL! I was just penning an email to support about my concern with two one-click failed installs messages that really bothered me since I had not done anything to initiate any kind of server message about installs. Thought I had been hacked! Run for the hills! Set loose the dogs of war!

Then I remembered to check here. Well, by accident I came here and saw this message. Relief and retreat, stand down my pretties; all is well.

Oh - and I’ve not noticed any outages today. Maybe I’m lucky, or maybe I’m just too busy to constantly monitor websites.

“Name the movie…”

Pulp Fiction?

Darn! I thought it was Pulp Fiction! Should have read-on a bit further!

having problems accessing Webmail, or the Panel…

what is the current status?

note: POP/IMAP are still okay, though…
