File Server Moving!
More File server moving. This is for Wednesday night, October 18, 2006 starting at 10pm sharp! Again, we have no easy way of saying who will be affected, however less than 10% of our total customer base.
I have an idea for how to make this go twice as fast, so hopefully it will be done a full hour sooner than usual. Downtime window is 10pm to 1am per usual.

None of my sites using a mysql database is working.
Anyone else having this same issue?

my site is working, but mysql queries are literally taking minutes to execute.

Stop whining and READ the MFing announcement : They are moving FILE servers… not DB servers. Jeez…
Sometimes I even wonder if people READ the announcements. I think when something’s bothering the most of you, you just come over here expecting that the top topic is created just for you to complain about the latest problem you’ve encountered.
There can be a bazillion things going on… if you experience trouble, make a ticket and -and this is gonna be a real shock to most of you- just WAIT until they resolve it. (If they can do anything about it in the first place… I’ve read dozens ofp ost in other topics that are typical lag-problems… they occur on your ISP’s network too you know… it’s not only DH that can have problems.

Lol, and yes, I did make a support ticket, I was just wondering if it was just me, or everyone else as well.

The main site isn’t mysql, which is why it works fine.

Oops you got me… I’m just a jackass that likes to complain about people complaining!
The Status panel is a real goldmine for me
Still, besides that, my argument still stands (even tomorrow, when the move really happens… mark my words!) : A lot of people always complain about things that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic they post it in or sometimes even that DH can do something about at all.
Doug Stanhope was right when he said something was wrong with Americans : “Americans like whining because they think that they’ll get something for/out of it…”.

and yes, i know this has nothing to do with file server.
no, i am not complaining.
I just want to know if this is my site problem, or people on my server experiencing similar issues.

Who says anyone is complaining though?
I posted ONLY to see if it was just me, or others were having some of the same problems. I never said, DH sux, they are a horrible company that needs to die. I am switching to a better company.
All I did was ask whether this issue I had was with only me or with everyone.

Oh, but If you’re interested to know if others experience the same problems than you, then there’s http://discussion.dreamhost.com/ where you can start a thread and start discussing your problems or downtimes with your peers… (newbies, don’t forget to push F5 from time to time to see if someone responded to your thread…
This way, when the file server move REALLY starts, you don’t have to search for a relevant post or information between the dozens of “complaints”, “inquiries”, and the like… and it keeps this place much more tidy…

Yes J my site is down on millhouse as well :(. Seems they are having some sort of problem with the server. Not just you. Hope they get it back up by 2:30 .

J - I’m on millhouse aswell and my drupal site is not working. I’ve put in a trouble ticket as of 10:45am. My other non-db based site on millhouse is working fine so it’s definitely mysql.

My site is having trouble too, it goes to some oddball page that I know nothing about, and the DreamHost Panel is still having trouble. I can’t log-in now and my site is opening to some oddball page about web blogging services. I do not sell anything on my site and I did not sell my domain name to some web blogger! I hope Dream Host gets their problems fixed soon.
Last time I could log-in, everything on DreamHost was running real slow!

My site is up and I can access the web panel just fine, however I haven’t had access to email (via POP3 or webmail) for 22 HRS now.

Somebaudy: I’m on Nelson and it seems that any subdomain I have being hosted as a virtual server is down right now. So far support hasn’t reponded
