ns2.dreamhost.com down for short while

Another Batch of RAM Upgrades (Completed)

The following servers will have their BIOS flashed and memory upgraded:
union, twizzler, herod, patton, and io.
Union and twizzler are up first! Expected downtime is ~20 minutes.

Renewed attack against Jalapa

Update; 10:02pm pdt We’ve stopped this attack and are in the process of investigating to find the source and target, in hopes of preventing it from happening again.

Server Jalapa under attack!

The server jalapa is being hit with an unknown Denial Of Service attack at the moment which is saturating its switch.
This switch saturation is in turn affecting the following servers:
burton
euclid
hoover
highland
locust
pico
venice
We’re working on finding the target IP for the attack so we can stop it. Once that’s done we’ll post an all clear.

Postac Hardware Issues

The postac server is having problems right now and we are moving it to new hardware. We will post an update once we are done.
Postac has been completely moved to new hardware (around 8pm actually) if you’ve still got any problems with sites hosted there please contact support.

File server swap (Done!)

We are swapping out the “head” half of one of our file servers in about 15 minutes. The management interface is showing warning signs of an impending failure, and so we need to do this as soon as possible. This is to prevent an emergency swap later. Memory Upgrades

The following servers are all having additional RAM installed tonight:
bundy, van, homer, hill, yoda, fairfax, and peso.
First up are bundy, van, and homer! These three servers are going down now to have their BIOS flashed and their memory upgraded. Total expected downtime is 20 minutes.

Soy Hard Drive Error - Updated

Soy’s hard drive just failed. We are in the process of moving everyone to new hardware. This should take no longer than an hour. We apologize for the inconvenience.
