Possible brief network outage tonight at 6PM

Posted (November 6th, 2006 at 5:25 pm PST) by jeremy

In our continuing effort to expand safely, we need to bring a new circuit online. There’s a possibility of network interuption for a small part of our network, but we will have our Cisco consultant on hand just in case. Only a small portion of our network may possibly be affected for a short period and affected services will include POP3/IMAP, SMTP, web, and jabber.

Happy DreamHost Grabbing-the-Live-Circuit Team!

Heh, looks like it’s taken down a few of my databases. So much for my sudden burst of productivity. :P

Just a note….I know that you guys are in Cali, but I’m not sure everyone does. I might recommend that you post the time zone when you post times. Thanks for the heads-up, though!

I don’t speak for DH at all but the servers appear to be back up.

Hey, my server is still down, and I can’t access my CMS. Any word on when things will be back to normal?

Archibald seems to be suffering from severely high load averages (attack??) The machine looks to have been rebooted about 25 minutes ago, but it is above 150.

Is anyone else having transfer speed problems? I can only get about 12KB / sec down from either of my servers via HTTP or http://FTP. I need to get a 200MB file down, so this is making for a long evening…

I cannot FTP to any of my sites on Broadway, though they are accessed via http.

Are you still down? I am in NYCand am tryingto get into my dreamhostpanel

They may be back up. All of my sites were slow then down for about an hour, but things seems to be back.

How do I find out what server I am on? My websites have been fine (today), but my forums have been having issues all day.

Stressed and Frustrated

You can find it at Users -> Manage Users. It should say what machine you are on. Some users may have different servers.

Thanks for answering Jared. I’m getting tired of answering that on EVERY THREAD.

Time Zone would be very useful, maybe put common time zones up as well.

Indeed… not all of us live in the same place… I don’t even live in the USA (which on its own has a handfull of different timezones)… maybe you could put your local timezone and UTC?… I don’t quite know the rules for dst in every part of the world, but I know how many hours west (or east) appart from UTC I am…

Thanks you dreamhost for the great work done. Dreamhost Rocks!
