More brains for Melrose!
After inspecting the machine for a while after having to restart it I noticed that it was rather low on memory - Patrick being the fine specimen of a human being that he is has run down to upgrade that for us right now. It should be back up within 10 minutes and healthier than ever (I did also find and firewall some naughty IPs so it should be much more stable now).
- UPDATE Fri Nov 10 13:08:22 PST 2006 -
Melrose is back up and running with more marbles, errr, memory!

I’m confused about what’s going on. I have dreambook on several websites and all are down. Does anyone know if this is a permanent or temporary problem? They have been down for almost 24 hours now. Would appreciate any comments to explain what’s happening. Thanks,
Gypsy

My site has been down for a day or two as well. What’s going on Dreamhost?

Hi Andrew, you are on Redondo which is down. Two people on your server have sent in support requests and have mentioned in the dreamhost discussion group. Hopefully your server will be back up soon.

Figured out it was down, still nice to see I’m not the only one having problems and looking at dreamhoststatus.com .

…and I’m the one who rather posted a thread in discussions (http://discussion.dreamhost.com/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=forum_troubleshooting&Number=60315) because DH status doesn’t reflect this issue. Please refer to this thread for more info and in the case the problem would persist.

Please refer to this discussion thread (http://discussion.dreamhost.com/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=forum_troubleshooting&Number=60315) for more info at least till DH team publish a new statut note. Thank you.

Of course, the proper thing to do any time your site is down is to put in a support request, not wait for someone to notice it and post in this forum. I would never wait nearly 24 hours simply “wondering” if my site was down. More than 10 minutes, my support ticket goes in. Although I haven’t had to do that much, as the server that my sites are on (yen) has been very stable for the last 18 months, except for the network-wide power outage a few months ago.

This is fantastic!! The databases aren’t working, and I can’t submit a support request because panel.dreamhost.com is not working.
How is that a workable situation?
How many times is my site going to go down in a 1 week period? I’ve been with Dreamhost for 1 month, and it’s down so many times it’s ridiculous.
November 13th, 2006 at 10:02 am
The panel is working fine for me — and there’s no connection between that and your own databases, so you might want to be sure there’s not a network issue between your location and DH with a traceroute if nothing is working for you.
November 13th, 2006 at 10:28 am
It works now, but it wasn’t working for about 30 minutes.
This may seem minimal, but if you add up the multiple 30 minute and 1 hour increments over a 1 week period, it is too much.

Same here.
