It works now, but it wasn't working for about 30 minutes.

This may seem minimal, but if you add up the multiple 30 minute and 1 hour increments over a 1 week period, it is too much.

The panel is working fine for me -- and there's no connection between that and your own databases, so you might want to be sure there's not a network issue between your location and DH with a traceroute if nothing is working for you.

This is fantastic!! The databases aren't working, and I can't submit a support request because panel.dreamhost.com is not working.

How is that a workable situation?

How many times is my site going to go down in a 1 week period? I've been with Dreamhost for 1 month, and it's down so many times it's ridiculous.

Of course, the proper thing to do any time your site is down is to put in a support request, not wait for someone to notice it and post in this forum. I would never wait nearly 24 hours simply "wondering" if my site was down. More than 10 minutes, my support ticket goes in. Although I haven't had to do that much, as the server that my sites are on (yen) has been very stable for the last 18 months, except for the network-wide power outage a few months ago.
