Galaga belly-up
Posted (December 23rd, 2006 at 4:12 am PST) by TerriGalaga’s hardware just couldn’t take it anymore. I am moving everything to new hardware. This shouldn’t take more than an hour for all services to come back online. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Update: The move went well and everything is back up and running. Thank you all for your patience!

lol mine either glazik, Something hinky about ‘WOOT! We’re back!’ messages that curse me hehehe.
Happens to me online games too. Must be some residual bad mojo I have.
Soon, I hope. :/
glazik – Yours is up now.
Rich – Yours is coming up now too
Funny how it’s not often people post about their sites being back up!
Why, senks..
It’s frustrating when they say everything is fixed and something isn’t working.
no mail for the last 3 hours including spa…is everything up and running?
Website back up, mail offline!
My site is on galaga — I didn’t even know it was down, as the outage occurred overnight, but it was back up when I checked it.
I’m an AMD heater. My site was on a Xeon server but now it’s on an Opteron server -__-”

Heater?
Well … he obviously hasnt applied his heatsink properly and is looking for somewhere to vent ..
Also Tomm9050 is there a reason for posting the spec of a server ? … Im sure theres very few people who care. Your on a 2 Processor box each with dual core proccys .. thats not a bad spec
Im sure you could have an Intel equivilent … yeah its $200 a month at Rackspace
oh right you dont want to pay 200 a month …
sorry I was sleepy when I was typing that comment It should be hater.
AMD hater == Clueless Intel Fanboy
Honestly, we run both in our servers at work, and the AMDs are way better work horses. We are actually now making them the standard, and not purchasing anything else with Intel. You get a faster, more efficient server for around $1000 less. You also have to remember that GHz isn’t the entire picture, its the IPC that is the important part.
Intel does make some nice processors for laptops (I’m running a Core 2 Duo now) but server-wise they have been beat IMO.
EVERY processor currently powered in my house and laptops is AMD with the exception of two Core 2 Duos. Those are sweet processors.
Still unable to login….
All my sites appear to be working (all on Galaga) – in fact, I had no reported issues when this event happened!
HOWEVER – today I cannot reach the control panel and attempting to email support gets an automated response:

That is embarassing.
hahaha Martin…that’s funny….go to the web panel to tell them the web panel is down….yeah mine is down too
Control Panel is currently up for me, and working fine as of now.
w00t!
My website works, but the panel lags a great deal and often times out. :/
They must be using a shared host.
I’d much rather have them working on keeping customer servers going than on web panel issues. Although I agree that they need to have an alternative method of submitting support requests – maybe through dreamhoststatus.com . . .
Yeah, my site isn’t working either. Sigh.
I miss the days when Dreamhost was reliable. All my sites are down, and panel is barely working for me to be able to report the outage. Ugh.
If I had a nickel for every time DH has written “I apologize for the inconvenience”, I could afford to buy a RELIABLE hosting company!
Great they forgot to restore the ssh host key so now ssh complains and known_hosts must be updated
panel.dreamhost.com is still down for me. I can’t even sign in.
The panel is down
Can you fix asap?
panel.dreamhost.com was working last night and this morning for me, but when I checked ~30min ago it was down and has yet to be back up; no apparent way to submit a support ticket either
.
I just joined; do they normally have major issues like this? Disappointing…
Panel went down for me one click from me finishing what I have to have finsihed by the end of the day.
I joined a couple months ago, but lately it seems like whenever I need to get something done against a budget, an issue like this pops up… disappointing indeed.
The panel has been down quite frequently recently, it’s extremely disappointing.
In my short experience with DH this is not common, but they certainly need to work on these panel issues and improve reliability.
Panel is up
We have phone call-back support, but I can’t log in to put in a call-back request
My site has been down for like the past two hours. It can’t access the database on the server. Fortunately it’s just a personal blog, but I am getting tired of it being down all the time. I send myself an e-mail on Friday and it bounced back saying I didn’t exist.
The fact that panel issues have not been acknowledged on dreamhoststatus.com is exactly why dreamhostatus.com isn’t the resource it was supposed to be. A message of “We are aware of panel issues and are working on it” would go a long way.
Jared – None of us can fix it. We’re just customers like you.
Another place to bitch – http://chat.dreamhost.com/
Panel wasn’t working earlier though it’s back right now for me.
What I’m certainly happy about though is that my site was working (and in heavy use too) during that time
Dont complain here. Use the methods that they actually will respond to o.
Can’t when the panel isn’t responding. That’s a decent reason for complaining here.
That doesn’t mean that it’s USEFUL to complain here.
great..
hmm..
i dont think they really care if its usefull or not, ive never know complaining to be that usefull in the first place no matter where it is done
It’s very good article. Great site with very good look and perfect information… Thanks
Good idea. Thanks!
I need think about this…
Ok, good article. Thanks!
Thank you.
Perfect information. Thanks
Thanks you dreamhost for the great work done. Dreamhost Rocks!
Pls keep us update if there is any problem occured.
Thank you for keep us update.

Strangely, my site still does not work …
