One-clicks: Joomla updated to 1.0.12, ActiveCollab updated to 0.7.1
Here’s the changelogs for both of them:
Joomla 1.0.12 changelog
ActiveCollab 0.7.1 changelog
Both of these upgrades are recommended as they contain bug fixes, and for Joomla some security fixes as well. You can log in to the One-Click Install page here to do so:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=goodies.installer&
As always, when upgrading a One-Click Install, make sure to carefully read the instructions that our One-Click Installer Robot sends you after the upgrade has completed, in case there’s any additional steps that you have to take to complete the upgrade!

Would this upgrade cause panel.dreamhost.com to go down? I cannot get to that page now…could this morning.
December 29th, 2006 at 4:30 pm
I have the same problem as well.
December 29th, 2006 at 4:37 pm
Same problem here…intermittent connection to the panel, got it to load briefly but couldn’t navigate anywhere, just can’t connect. Most (all?) of my MYSQL databases are down, too. Why isn’t this being reported here on the status blog?

Sweet, I love the one click upgrades.

Murat - you might want to ask support about this as if you look at the top of this site it says:
If you are experiencing a problem not reported here, check our web panel for more information.
(Please remember, posting in the comments here IS NOT an official way to contact DreamHost.)
You might also check for your answer on the wiki ( http://wiki.dreamhost.com ) or you could try the customer to customer forums at http://discussion.dreamhost.com

This is probably unrelated to the Joomla upgrade, but I also can’t get to my site or to the web panel to report the problem.
December 30th, 2006 at 4:23 pm
Yes it would be great if we could get into the panel to try this…
December 30th, 2006 at 4:43 pm
Yeah, panel’s down.
December 30th, 2006 at 4:49 pm
Can you add cPanel to the one-click installs?
December 30th, 2006 at 4:51 pm
Word is they may be the victim of a dos attack. Maybe it would be better if we stopped trying for a bit to ease the load.
December 30th, 2006 at 4:54 pm
stop trying? yeah sure. Lets try again next year
December 30th, 2006 at 4:59 pm
I also am unable to access the panel. I contacted customer support from the main dreamhost.com page, but I think that is mostly sales requests. Hopefully it will get to the right person.

Runcimann -
I’m pretty sure that they’ll say “Mmmmm…. No.” But you could always submit it as a support request and see what you learn!
David -
The sales connection actually also goes to the support team. It’ll get to the right place that way in the end.

Works fine for me, go dreamhost
December 31st, 2006 at 1:17 pm
Runcimann-
That is by far the dumbest thing I have ever heard! Cpanel is just like panel.dreamhost.com, except it costs $$$, and is a HUGE security hole.
If you want cpanel, why dont you go to a crappy webhost, who doesnt care if your entire account gets hacked.
December 31st, 2006 at 7:34 pm
Fantastico, which is the product that enables one click installs under cPanel is alright, however the security issues with cPanel have proven to be quite dire and I wouldn’t go for a webhost that runs cPanel.
Yes, I know that cPanel is popular, but I’d rather go with Plesk / Hsphere or Interworx if you’re looking for a control panel outside the realms of Dreamhost which is secure and effecient.

Oh, come now ‘Tom’, where is your sense of humour? Besides, it is not as if DH has not had its own set of issues with security…

January 1st, 2007 at 9:43 pm
Why does my Panel say there is a verified server outage, and yet there is no post on here about it?
January 1st, 2007 at 11:25 pm
Yes, the server is down and here’s no posts about it.
