Our network has been stable all evening, so everything should be back to normal. We’re opening a case with Cisco as it seems that the memory outage was likely triggered by a bug in the OS. We’ll update again if we get any additional information worth passing along.
Our networking engineer made a change to our core2 router configuration. It caused the router to run out of ram and wipe out its configuration file. Smithers seems to have some bad memory, so we’re moving it onto new hardware right now. The whole process should take less than an hour, and leave all of our customers hosted on that machine with a shiny new webserver.
If you’ve noticed your databases being down, it’s likely because one of our database machines, sanspoof, simultaneously lost 2 drives shortly before 5am this morning. We have it on new hardware and are restoring all of your databases from backups as we speak. We expect everything to be back up sometime around 9am [...]
That should do it for upgrades today, we should see much better stability for all of the machines upgraded today as based on crashlogs they were swapping. Zorg is already back up actually, the other two should have minimal downtime.

Both could use some more brainpower so we’re going to get them done today, the downtime should be minimal (under 20 minutes at the most).

All three servers are back up and running with 4 GB of RAM apiece!
The server Taffy has been having network problems and has needed reboots. We have evaluated the machine while it is experiencing problems and we believe new hardware is required to fix the current issues the server is having. We are replacing the hardware right now and we will update this post as soon [...]
