Wordpress One-Click Install updated to version 2.0.6
After repeated death threats and a customer actually setting himself on fire in our parking lot, I’ve finally updated our One-Click Install of Wordpress to version 2.0.6. It’s mainly some important security fixes, read more about it here:
If you installed Wordpress using our One-Click Installer, you can upgrade it by logging in at panel.dreamhost.com, clicking on the “Goodies” tab and then on the “One-Click Installs” page, and then clicking on the [Upgrade to 2.0.6] link next to your installation of Wordpress.

One-click updates are great! thanks for implementing this feature!

Awesome…but there was a very recent update to it that fixed some problems with the Feedburner feeds not working in 1.0.6. Is this that version?
January 8th, 2007 at 1:07 am
egon, I heard about that too, my my 206 install has no problem working with FeedBurner.
January 8th, 2007 at 1:25 am
Thanks Dreamhost.

Apparently there is an issue with FeedBurner feeds, but there’s a quick fix that should help matters.

Another issue is apparently WP 206 in error404 page sends a 200 OK header. Google Sitemaps fails on the verification but fix it is easy.

Arrgghh…where’s the panel? And why isn’t it shown here?
“Temporarily Unavailable
The web panel is temporarily unavailable while we perform maintenance on our database.

Software error:

You may want to take a look at the forums as well.

help - panel is down with a message saying you’re doing database maintenance - but there’s an error in the message which doesn’t look right.
I tried emailing you but that got bounced because you ‘can’t find my email in your customer database’
I can’t resubmit at http://www.dreamhost.com/contact.cgi because that is down too
So there is NO way to contact you at all. This is pretty bad.

Hey… I was visiting the one-click page and when I attempted to navigate away from it (after changing nothing on it) it won’t let me… it keeps giving me a message about having one error on the page and correct it below. I tried to go to Manage Domains, Streaming, and even Contact Support on the menu. Only way was to click the status link to get here to get out of it.

Just an FYI folks - Wordpress is almost a no-brainer to install yourself. All it requires is creating a database and database user, un-tarring it, and changing 4 lines in the config.php file.

Funny how the panel & forums outage (at least 15 minutes last night) wasn’t mentioned here.
I love DH, but if you’re going to announce status, you need to announce or at least MENTION it.
If you’re going to skip telling us when the panel’s down, what other things are happening that you don’t mention? This is a flaw in the “full disclosure” idea.

I don’t upgrade anything until dreamhost let’s me do it via 1-click, thank you for updating it!
January 13th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
1-click doesn’t seem to be creating NEW WP 2.06 installs, though upgrading existing installs seems to work just fine (didn’t get the e-mail conf though). Despite some wonkiness, the update is much appreciated. Thanks guys

I also upgraded

Lol, poor customer. There may be better things to set yourself alight for! Or… maybe not. I mean, I guess it’s a good cause!
I’m sure he’d have a hard time explaining it to his friends and family… if he made it. If he didn’t, probably will have a hard time explaining how he died to the rest of the people in heaven. It just doesn’t sound as cool when you pit yourself against the likes of Lincoln or whatever – dying for wordpress. Lincoln would probably have other things in his mind, not knowing what ‘wordpress’ is or a ‘pc.’ He he. Ok, I’m way off topic here.
