Central services database maintenence (Done!)
Tomorrow night, starting at 10PM (Thurs Jan 18 22:00:00 PST 2007), we will be taking the following services offline for some emergency maintenence:
DreamHost Panel (panel.dreamhost.com)
DreamHost-provided webmail
DreamHost wiki (wiki.dreamhost.com)
The downtime window for this will be approximately 2 hours, expected downtime within that window is 1 hour. This will have no effect on customer sites, and customer email will continue to function normally, except for the webmail access to it.
Update: Fri Jan 19 00:45:39 PST 2007: There were some unforseen delays causing the downtime to extend about 15 minutes past the estimated window, however, all services are now back online.

Is the emergency maintenence to fix the current web-mail failure I am experiencing?

Me too.

John: 100% unrelated… send support a message if it keeps happening.

My database connection has been bouncing up and down all morning. I got an email from support saying everything was fine. Of course it was by the time I got the response. Now it’s down again. So depressing. I went almost three months with no problems after the disasters of last Fall.

@DVG:- Database connection errors for your blog? Working fine here and no errors seem to be ocurring….. If the problem still persists I would recommend responding to the ticket (if you already opened one).

Will it fix this:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@technudge.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Why do I have this gut feeling telling me not to do anything important or time consuming until Friday? Oh well, I could use a break anyway. Good time to practice crossing my fingers.

Thanks for the heads up, but how about a new post the day of the issue saying something like “We’re going down for maintenance now, like we posted yesterday (with a link back to the original post) we should be down for an hour or two, these services will be affected…” Then I wouldn’t have to search four posts down while trying to figure out what the heack was going on with my webmail. Redundant? Yes. Helpful? Yes really.

I can’t contact support! After writing a message… nothing happens!
(Yes, I’ve pressed “Send it!” already :> )
