One-Click Install Updates: Wordpress to 2.0.7, Zencart to 1.3.7

Less bugs! More security! Read on:

Changelog for Wordpress 2.0.7
Changelog for Zencart 1.3.7

I also fixed two bugs with our One-Click installer that have been noted for a while:

1) I added “–dereference” to all of our “chown -R” commands, which will hopefully resolve all the problems our users were having with symlinked folders having the wrong permissions on them after an install or upgrade.

2) I fixed the post-install e-mail for ActiveCollab to reflect that “/public/install” is the folder to delete, not “/install”.

As always, you can upgrade by logging in at panel.dreamhost.com, clicking on the “Goodies” tab and then on the “One-Click Installs” page, and then clicking on the “Upgrade” link next to your installation of Wordpress or Zencart.

The backend still checks to make sure that the user has permission on the symbolic linked directory. Right? Cause giving users permissions to the someone else’s eg. directory would be bad.

  2. Will Says:

    Yes it does, nm :P

  3. Eric Says:

My WordPress blog is hosted at the root of my domain, so when I upgrade I get a message that my old installation is being moved to http://www.crazydrumguy.com.old/ Is there a place where it actually goes, or is it lost forever?

  4. Rob Says:

@Eric:- If you login via SSH or via FTP you will see that a “copy” of your website is stored in the folder “www.crazydrumguy.com.old”. The reason for this is that sometimes updates of software can be different to the original version and the backup is there as a security measure.

If you see that your website is playing up or that Wordpress isnt working as it should be after the update, you can uninstall the update, and rename the folder “www.crazydrumguy.com.old” to “www.crazydrumguy.com” - This will in effect restore your old version ;)

  9. Melanie Says:

WordPress 2.1 was released today, can you please update the one-click installs? Thanks so much for your hard work!

  10. Fernando Says:

Me too, waiting for 2.1 goodies :-) Thanks!

  11. apexad Says:

So many wordpress updates in such a short time, wow! 2.06 to 2.07 to 2.1 in like a 3 week span. Crazy! Time to update one-click again.

  12. Captain Blue Says:

Indeed! I’d like to see one click upgrades to 2.1 also.

  13. Jeffrey Collins Says:

Just read about some of the upgrades made to 2.1. Not only does it sound benificial to the users themselves, but it also should help improve the server load. I hope to see it in the 1 click intalls very soon.

  14. Jessica Fowler Says:

Yes, I’m looking for 2.1 too. I did an upgrade on one of my client’s sites to 2.07 and it broke some stuff. (Yay, for the backup.) So if I’m going to spend time fixing bugs, I wanna do it all at once ;)

    Thank you!

  15. Felipe Says:

  19. e Says:

I keep checking for your one-click installs to update to WP 2.1. Is there a holdup for some reason? Ella rocks! Plus the release has a lot of new goodies.

  20. ancilla Says:

Same here… I keep checking the blog and the panel and nothing is happening. There aren’t any issues posted either, so I don’t quite see what the holdup is… To be honest I am getting a bit impatient. Ah, well… there’s always manual update…

  21. Smokeyv Says:

Mmm…2.1 broke my site, rolled back to their earlier, backed up directory…but it seems the database is changed by the upgrade…! So I see that there are errors in the categorisation, seems that all is not well, Yikes, what am I to do now (dives into WIKI, sees what he can find.)
    Example:(appears under categories section:)

WordPress database error: [Table 'MYSITE.wp_linkcategories' doesn't exist]
    SELECT DISTINCT link_category, cat_name, show_images, show_description, show_rating, show_updated, sort_order, sort_desc, list_limit FROM `wp_links` LEFT JOIN `wp_linkcategories` ON (link_category = cat_id) WHERE link_visible = ‘Y’ AND list_limit 0 ORDER BY cat_name

Maybe what I need to do is to start from scratch, load it all up from the security backup…

  22. kw Says:

Smokeyv I have the same problem. If you find a solution could you share it with us here? Thanks :)

  23. jedaffra Says:

2.0.7, we hardly knew ye … now bring on 2.1 ferchrissakes!!! :)

  24. davidbrucehughes Says:

The 2.0.7 update went smoothly, but I tried the update to 2.1 this morning, and it broke my blogs. Thank goodness for the backup! Let us know when the problem is diagnosed, please.

  25. Jonathan Harriot Says:

    KW, SmokeyV and davidbrucehughes,
It’s probably an issue with the template you are using, email me jonathanharriot at gmail dot com and I might be able to help.

  26. Phil Scoville Says:

I am also having the same issues. Can anyone please help?
