Larchmont getting failed over
Posted (February 9th, 2007 at 11:17 am PST) by chihLarchmont is unable to mount any remote filesystems and powercycling the server did not help. To get the server back up and running as quickly as possible we are failing over the server. The server should be back up in about an hour. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.
UPDATE: The move went well and everything is back up and running. Thank you all for your patience!

Hi,
I had a big problem, I installed SugarCRM, and my installation doesn’t work. There is some problem with you or just my installation is the problem.
It look like there is a problem with a hard drive.
Regrets
We still love you larchmont! humhum-larchmont massive will never lose faith in the best server on dreamhost ![]()
I might name my dog Larchmont.
Someone at dreamhost changed the file permissions on my site and it will no longer work! They also are ignoring my support requests.
Trent - if you still own the files you can change your own permissions.
The mysql server doesn’t work for me now.. My websites are in Century
i think my blog does not work as well. check it dammit.
Works for me, Ridor. Sounds like you’ve either already gotten fixed or it wasn’t actually broken in the first place.
Remember, DH support doesn’t come out here looking for things to fix. These kinds of issues definitely need to be reported to support through the panel.
i just have a question… does Internal Server Errors and 30 minute downtimes hit you as a “signal” that you need to add a new server? i think my site has outgrown my old server due to traffic and expanding number of members. let me know if there is indeed a correlation thanks
We’re not DH employees. You’ll have to discuss it with support. P.S. with thousands of servers to monitor it’s hard to catch some intermittent edges. Looking through the forums at http://discussion.dreamhost.com it appears that they most often solve problems of customers when they report them.
Note - it may be that your site isn’t working as efficiently as it could. They’ll be kind enough to tell you that too.
thank you, i just posted in the forums.
Thanks why for doing what you do heree.
This is Larchmont. Next stop, Mamaroneck. Thank you for riding Dreamhost’s Metro-North.
Firestone seems to be down at the moment.
*sigh* Y’know, this is EXACTLY why they turned comments off before: because people kept coming to the blog and posting in the comments for support requests, which belong in the panel.
If you have an issue, report it through the panel. If you can’t use the panel, log into your email and send them a ticket (support@dreamhost.com). If your DH email is down, use some other email. This is not a support zone.
or go to discussion.dreamhost.com
I agree, this is not a place for support issues. This is a fun place which I absolutely LOVE. Comon’ Josh, we need new COOL material.

Right after I submit a ticket, the problem is posted here, it does not get better than this. Sometimes I do not know why I both with systemwide tickets, but its always nice to let them know in case they did not.
Keep up the great work guys!
