Rootbeer fizzled out!
Posted (February 19th, 2007 at 6:48 pm PST) by BrianOur server Rootbeer crashed a little bit ago. While coming back up, I saw a kernal panic, so I decided to move it to new hardware! Everything is reconfiguring to the new machine, and should be up soon!

Hey, it appears we also inherited a new Ruby version in this fixer-upper. The ‘rails’ cmd now generates .rb that refers to 1.8; just yesterday it was 1.7

I don’t remember the C64 crashing that much, maybe they should take that suggestion on board.

Guys my site has a webapp that doesnt work without Zend Optimizer seems that your server is working fine but you forgot to install zend optimizer, this is such a great welcome for new customers….

No, Scott, your stupid waste of bandwidth is back online, annoying eyeballs across the globe.
We are on Tonic, and are experiencing some major lag. I can’t help but wonder if this file server outage is effecting other web servers.

I haven’t been able to access mail for about 5 hours now Pop or Imap. Verified outages across the board. I have to say I left one host because of flakey reliability and joined dreamhost in Jan only to find that it is even more flakier. Yikes! Hope these issues get resolved because I moved over at least 3 customers…
Blogs have been horribly slow this morning. I noticed on voss the load was really high:
11:26:00 up 58 days, 16:11, 4 users, load average: 493.26, 270.76, 168.24
No word from DH.
Yeah, I’ve moved a number of sites over to dreamhost and they’re all freaking out about their email being down so much this month.
Yes, email down here too. And for about the last week I’ve been getting timeouts when checking both accounts several times a day…..
It’s extremely frustrating that this at 6 hours now and not a word about it via this status page, no updates on the support page, and there’s no number to call to get an ETA about when it might be up.
Agreed — the status page should reflect these email problems. Mail’s been down 99% of the time all day, for all my clients.
I hate to say it because I love DreamHost, but I’m in the same boat. I brought a number of accounts over in the past few months and these email issues are *killing* me.
Hmm my mails been down tooooo long. Im switching everything to my own dedicated server. Sorry guys this is bad for business, It was awsome while it lasted. Good luck fixing this.
I usually point my MX Records to the Google server, mail’s handled there. Never gave me a problem.
I’ve been on this server since the weekend, and I’m experiencing extremely slow speeds. ~50KB/sec on average. Although, I jumped in IRC and a few users reported up to 2MB/sec download speeds. What gives? I know it’s not my connection, considering that I’ve tried two different connections at work and at home.
Rootbeer seems to have run out of harddisk space…
My first DH account was both 3 day ago…. and configured on rootbeer. Common guys…. i need this server…. FTP is down, Panel is down, no mail, …etc… 3 day from 19th and nothing resolved.
Seems like rootbeer is down again….. *or the ftp access isn’t working*
I guess you get what you pay for, I got an account yesterday (a year of Lvl 1 for $20) and can’t FTP into rootbeer at all.
I wish I had googled “dreamhost problems 2007″ before buying the account.
I purchased it yesterday, for abit more then that, i think its just the machine. still not happy.
