Rootbeer fizzled out!

Posted 1 year, 6 months ago (February 19th, 2007 at 6:48 pm PST)

Our server Rootbeer crashed a little bit ago. While coming back up, I saw a kernal panic, so I decided to move it to new hardware! Everything is reconfiguring to the new machine, and should be up soon!
Sorry about that!
Happy Sarsaparilla-fixit-team! =)

Gir kernel panic.

Posted 1 year, 6 months ago (February 17th, 2007 at 4:48 pm PST)

It is complaining about one of the CPUs so we are working with the admin oncall to see if it’s just needing a new kernel or to be rebuilt on new hardware. We will post once this is resolved (it should take no more than 30 minutes). Once this is fixed gir should be quite [...]

Ruble’s power supply decided to go on strike, so we’re moving it over to new hardware. This process shouldn’t take longer than half an hour. Check back here if you’re still having problems, and don’t hesitate to contact support if after the move you’re still having problems accessing your domains.
Very sorry about the [...]

File server battery swaps! (Done!)

Posted 1 year, 6 months ago (February 13th, 2007 at 3:19 pm PST)

I need to swap out batteries in three of our file servers. This is to help them maintain the integrity of YOUR data in the event of a power outage, or other hardware failure. These generally take about 3-4 minutes each, during which time none of your data will be lost, but you will also [...]

Mail authentication outage

Posted 1 year, 6 months ago (February 12th, 2007 at 6:01 pm PST)

We just experienced an authentication outage for all of our mail clusters. This has been resolved.
A network hiccup caused our load balancers to reset all connections to the backend authentication databases, which in turn caused all mail servers to need a reset to get their connections back.

Posted 1 year, 7 months ago (February 9th, 2007 at 11:17 am PST)

Larchmont is unable to mount any remote filesystems and powercycling the server did not help. To get the server back up and running as quickly as possible we are failing over the server. The server should be back up in about an hour. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.
UPDATE: The move [...]

Niagara has a busted NIC, so we’re moving everyone over to new hardware. This should take no longer than two hours, and we’ll be updating this post once it’s up and running again. My apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
