March 7th, 2007 at 6:15 pm
Dreamhost panel down for me, too. It’d be nice to have an official way to report panel failure.
March 7th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Panel dead, and my server Pellegrino is dead most of the time too.
March 7th, 2007 at 6:34 pm
I was failed over to the same grade once. I know how Wiggle feels. It’s depressing. Somebody slip the poor dear a bottle of Chivas so it can drown its sorrows. Poor Wiggle…

You fricken morons. Fix the damn control panel and leave it alone or put c-panel in its place so the software actually works!
March 7th, 2007 at 6:41 pm
I seriously don’t get it. It’s obvious that they’re working on it, yet no post here. What’s the point in a status blog that isn’t updated?
March 7th, 2007 at 6:45 pm
true, the panel is donw of me now.i’m china.
what about you? the lovely friends.
March 7th, 2007 at 6:45 pm
I just signed up here yesterday evening and have not yet had any luck logging in to the panel…does this happen a lot?
March 7th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
Everyone might see me as a fanboy, but the panel’s down for me too.
Maybe it’s time to drop the ajaxified shit and just make it *available*
March 7th, 2007 at 6:50 pm
我也是中国的,不会是被GCD封了吧?!那我们可就惨了
March 7th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
No panel. Won’t access it.
March 7th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
Panel is down for me too. How can this be related to the Wiggle server? But hey, it’s DreamHost! Some guy farts in Antarthica and something happens to a server.
March 7th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
I sent out announcements last night that have still not been delivered to my client list. Now I cannot access panel.dreamhost.com to report an issue with the control panel accsess. Some kind of loop I can’t escape. Report your access problem to the panel you cannot access. Sure that makes sense.
C’mon Dreamhost, get it together.

I just signed up yesterday, and if this is the type of service that DH provides, then I would like a refund. I need to setup emails, domains, etc. for transfer! A little help?? I agree with DZ. Stupid that you can’t even submit a problem, because that is on the same subdomain that isn’t working…
March 7th, 2007 at 7:01 pm
DZ = exactly the same here. mail not sent and no panel. AARRGGgg…
March 7th, 2007 at 7:04 pm
PS. to everyone that “just signed up” / “does this happen a lot”.. my answer is no. Been with DH for almost 3 years and had very few issues. It seems that they have just had a hard few months/weeks recently. I guess such is life for budget web hosting plans, but it is very annoying right now! aarrtgg..
March 7th, 2007 at 7:05 pm
Master - not all that common.
You can send mail from your “registered” DH address as a way to submit requests for service. (this is an approved alternate reporting process)
March 7th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
Of course I just tried to report it that way and got a “you should use the panel” message. This has got to be fixed ASAP.
March 7th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
arrrgggg… can’t access to panel… i’m from Malaysia
March 7th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
panel is back
March 7th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
Panel works for me…
March 7th, 2007 at 7:12 pm
Yeah! panel is back… just after i post my comment -.-”
March 7th, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Panel just came back for me. Messages still stuck in queue. Now I can let support know.
March 7th, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Panel’s up now!
March 7th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
We just moved to this hosting company a week ago. Our panel has been down several times and are sites run slower and slower each day. Just like to let the guys at dreamhost know that were going to be moving in the next few days. Were going to 1and1.com thanks for the ruff seas and good luck with your little hosting project your running here.

panel is OK now.
but data of my mysql are gone!!!
March 7th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
panel is back.. yay…
GGRRR @ Email Announcement Lists not sending..
March 7th, 2007 at 11:46 pm
Robert: Go to bbb.org and check the ratings for 1and1 and then check online for some of the problems associated with that company, such as alleged double-billing practices.
I briefly tried to set up my five sites on their service, but after confronting the ignorance of their outsourced tech support and other matters, I realized it was the wrong place to go. They supposedly have good uptime, but the rest of the picture is murky.
Just want to tell you about that. A week? Couldn’t have been that bad here. Besides, the down control panel was preannounced, or didn’t you notice that?
Peace,
Gene

Don’t blame you, mate. If this were my first week here I’d sure as hell be jumping ship. DreamHost seems to be catering for an interesting niche market, given they’re fast becoming too unreliable for business sites, and way too expensive (if not too unreliable) for personal sites.

Originally Quoted by Mad MacAdder “given they’re fast becoming too unreliable for business sites, and way too expensive (if not too unreliable) for personal sites.”
As it has been said numerous times, if a business site is that important, you should be looking at Dedicated Servers or Colocation options with a provider. As for the “way too expensive for personal sites”….. where did you get that idea from?? How can €7,95 a month be way to expensive….. thats like 27 cents per day (I´d hate to see what you class as cheap)…..
March 8th, 2007 at 6:21 am
@Rob: Of course DH has great features for the price. And I personally have left cheaper, more reliable servers exactly for those features. But very few _personal sites_ would need those, and if reliability’s an issue, they’re better off going elsewhere. And yes, if business sites need reliability, they’re better off going elsewhere too, just as I stated.
Btw, we’re not all in America, or even Europe

I have to say it surprises me that people expect to run a serious business off of an $8 shared hosting plan. And as for 1and1.com, I hope you don’t use perl since it’s 5.006 (which was released around 1999). I’d hate to see how old the rest of their stuff is.
I’ve been pretty happy with dreamhost for many years, getting on like 7 years now, but I’m starting to feel the pain of all of this downtime. The last year has been very bad. I’ve got one colocation site bookmarked for my businesses, and a shared hosting site bookmarked for personal stuff.
This summer I would count on at least one major power outage in LA/San Francisco. Before jumping ship I’m going to wait and see how DH fairs.

Erm… Bringing a server down, and then putting the image on another piece of hardware isn’t quite what the word “failover” means.

Great job done! Dreamhost is the best hosting you can find!
