Cappuccino having hardware issues, being moved to new hardware

Posted (March 26th, 2007 at 6:52 am PST) by Justin

The cappuccino server is having issues and isn’t cleanly rebooting. It is being moved to new server hardware right now. Our apologies for the downtime, the services will be coming up shortly.

– UPDATE –

The move is complete and sites are being hosted normally again. Thanks for your patience.

Awesome show team! Good job!

Good Job. But the sites are still incredible slow. Takes ~20 Seconds to load one Webpage.

I can’t seem to veiw any of the websites…is this just a side effect to the sever move and it should be back up soon?

MySQL is down! I can’t contact support…I hope this can be resolved soon!

now what about ovalitine my website dont work

bandit (mysql server) is down :(

The panel is being very slow, won’t let me post a support ticket for my mySQL being down.

Several of my sites are down because of MySQL outtages. The common element seems to be

gromit:eugenio

can’t contact support, either.

Not happy.

MySQL is down for me too….and so is the dreamhost support page, so I have no way of reporting it. Even this status page is taking forever to load.

The SQL servers solomon:meg, solomon:leana, and bill:nicolasa all appear to be down as well.

My site is loading (taffy) but my forums and blogs are down, and to make it worse I cannot get to my Control Panel to file a support request. HELP! To quote your support form “PEOPLE ARE DYING”

mysql is down here too!
damn this is very annoying!

Mysql server is still down. Good thing our homepage doesn’t pull from it, but the rest of the site is a mess. Plus I can’t log into the panel.dreamhost.com to check on anything or submit a ticket.

sql is indeed down… thought I made a coding error but all my sites are down so I’ll just wait a tad longer…

Databases down. Can’t reach our galleries or our message boards. Very unhappy.

There are support issues at least monthly if not more with this hosting company. -_- Very disappointing as everyone seems to say you’re the best and yet, not experiencing that.

I would file a support request however can’t log in.

MySQL is back. That was an 18 minute downtime. No explanation, no warning. What’s up Dreamhost?

Seriously. Post a message about it, and one about the panel being down (which is STILL down).

My MySql databases are responding now. Panel responded long enough for me to submit a ticket but appears to be down again.

^^ Just like to point out that 18 minutes in a month is 0.0004% downtime, and my monitoring service has reported only 10 minutes more than that downtime this month :) I’m happy enough

Also, panel isn’t down here. Hmm.

Panel/MySQL are both spotty for me as well.

I had MySQL problems on my site, but things seem to be working again.

Network problems galore again at Dreamhost :(

Jeff: A 5-10 minute outage on a rare occasion is not “galore.”

Peace,
Gene

@Gene

I would completely agree if you were doing something extremely time sensitive and important during those 5-10 minutes like I was.

That’s Murphy’s Law :)

Peace,
Gene

All three of my sites seem to be down.

Well downtimes are okay as long as they are reported in advance. Now there’s been about an hour downtime (back and forth though) with the MySQL databases. At least they can write something about it on the status page.

Peter: Sometimes you don’t know until you’re well into the process of fixing the problem. But I understand there’s a sale on crystal balls these days :)

Peace,
Gene

Okay, then there will be a disk failure on server xyz tomorrow at exactly 12:37am, in addition to that the network card on server zyx will fail exactly one hour and twenty three minutes later.

Well I meant “scheduled” downtime.

And it’s still bad after one hour of “unscheduled” downtime that they haven’t written anything on the status page about it. What they are doing. What the problem is and when it might be fixed.

Peter: I was just making a little fun! :-)

I only had fifteen minutes of downtime, I believe it was a network issue.

Yeah seems to be back up now.

@zylox: this is the internet.. fun is best defined with smileys ;)

my sites are still going very very slow.

check http://www.alia.knight47.com, it takes about 20 seconds to load a simple wordpress blog…

My friend’s forum is down

“old” equipment “new” equipments I think makes no difference and it is just a purchase of the additional servers to support the oversold expansion that requires an additional space however as for the basic account holders it still do not change the game plan it is about real bandwidth including without limitation the live process on the server which are to the most extend is outside of your control.

Great job done! Dreamhost is the best hosting you can find!

thaks for you

We’re back up and running after a short downtime. I’m more concerned with it not happening again, and Dreamhost seems to be working to resolve that before it happens. Overall, I’m a very happy customer.

I read it and i think you right.

thank you
