Power Strip Replacement
Two power strips have lost their management interface and need to be replaced. They will be swapped out Thursday night starting at 11 p.m. PST. The first power strip that will be switched out will affect the following servers:
andor, beethoven, cyrax, dimarco, postac, thorin, and zebes
The second power strip replacement will follow shortly after the first and affect these servers:
avalon, boyd, burbank, cognac, jake, jawbreaker, sawtelle, and yoda
The downtime window for each swap is an hour, although actual downtime should be less than that.

I would assume that these servers are not using redundant anything, save maybe the boot/os drives.
And Mark, you obviously don’t need a management interface for your PDU’s at home. But in a data center full of equipment that is 30 minutes away from any human interaction… it’s nice to be able to poke a server in the eye remotely.
Or at the minimum - be able to tell if your servers are using too much power in a rack before you plug another in and blow the breakers for that rack.

Let just say, don’t buy APC managed 30 amp 0U PDU’s. We get at least one DOA in every order we make. We’ve switched back to our previous vendor for all new orders.
