Looney Server Move!

hornet getting DoS’d, LAX facility suffers

The machine hornet is currently under a very large denial of service attack and it’s saturating our network to our LAX facility. Our network engineers are currently looking at the situation and should have a solution soon. We will post an update as soon as we have new information.

Bam going down for a quick ram upgrade

Bam seems to be a little short on memory. I am going to attempt to upgrade it now! Total downtime should be about 5 minutes.

Couple of quick battery swaps

We need to swap the backup batteries in 4 of our file servers. Downtime per server should not excede 5 minutes. This will affect Spunky and Spacey users.

Brief network downtime around 3:30PM PDT

Updated: There was a little delay getting started, but after everything was ready, the switchover went very well. With the exception of a completely separate (and thankfully smaller) outage caused by a loose network cable, the planned work was completed with just a few seconds of downtime.

DreamHost panel database maintenance

Connections Problems to the LAX Datacenter

We are currently experiencing severe packet loss between the Garland building and our LAX datacenter. This is affecting most dedicated server customers as well as all customers in the “frisky” cluster. This includes the following web servers:
