Server bundy getting new hardware

The server bundy has been having some hardware issues as of late and we’re going to move it over to new hardware. The process should take about 30 minutes. We will post an update here when the process is complete.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience!

Update: the services on the new hardware are coming up. Everything should be operational within a few minutes.

Update: Everything is up and running over on the new hardware. Please contact support if you are having issues. Thanks!

    Nice work dreamhost.

    It’s always nice to see new hardware replacing that which isn’t working well and as the post above mentioned I hope this will improve the issues we’ve been having as of lately.

    A good service when the system works, I do wish you guys less issues because it doesn’t bite when everyone rips off the site else where. ~Joey

    You probably had it sitting next to the server call Peggy… That’ll do it every time.

    Are you going to be upgrading all of the servers over time, or is this just a one off?

    Seeing as hardware tends to fail over time, I’d suspect them to move over more server one-by-one over time. According to the blurb on the about page, they’ve got 700 servers. If a server breaks down, on average, after 3 years, that’s 233 breakdowns a year, about 4 or 5 every week. 3 years is the usual period (at least, over here it is, maybe it’s different in cali) for writing off equipment, so 4-5 replacements a week is a minimum of sorts.

    @Wouter

    I don’t think writing off servers (for taxes and stuff) is the same as having them die on you.

    Why exactly are we posting the loads of [bottlecap] when this post is about [bundy]?

    NenadS Says:

    Because DreamHost did not report here problem which bottlecap have more than 2 days…

    @Matt Van Dussen,
    We need something to complain about, it IS dreamhoststatus after all.

    Matt Van Dusen Says:

    @NenadS, cs: You could always try filing support tickets. I find my problems are solved MUCH quicker when I do that, since they actually READ those.

    Anyway, at least I’m not afraid to post the URL to my website on here. If you’re registered DH customers, you must have a website somewhere. Why not post them?

    Mousee Says:

    @Matt - I personally don’t post mine, cause it’s a private site for my friends and I only.
    Whenever I *eventually* get around to working on my public site though, I’ll finally get to post it ;)
