Looney Server Moves! (reminder)
Due to space and power constraints in our primary datacenter we are moving the entire shared cluster “looney” to our LAX facility at 12:01AM PDT, Sunday morning, May 13th 2007. All webservers, mail servers, file servers, and MySQL servers in the looney cluster will be unreachable during the move, which we expect to take approximately 5 hours.
The looney cluster contains the following web servers: apok axl blanka brazil charm curly dhalsim egon guile limbo-looney moe slappy soy tank tofu vega winston
If your site is on any of these servers this status post applies to you. Also, if you check the “Account Status” button on the upper right hand of the webpanel ( http://panel.dreamhost.com ) you should see your cluster under the section “Your Email Server:”.
We do apologize for this inconvenience. Rest assured we will do everything possible to keep downtime to a minimum.
- UPDATE -
Everything is back up and running in our LAX datacenter! Most services were restored around 3 a.m., but there were a few stragglers that had to be whipped into shape. If you’re having any problems with your account, please contact support.

True DM.
I don’t remember what my server is, and the Panel is down so I can’t check it. But I assume it’s one of the affected servers, since my website is all right and only webmail is down.

My panel’s been up…just VERRRRRY slow at times…just set up to have a new email address forwarded and it still isn’t working, but I’m assuming that’s all affected by the move as well so I won’t report it just yet.

@Josh
Report it. The panel has nothing to do with the Looney cluster.
May 13th, 2007 at 10:13 am
Panel down here, as well. Unless it generally takes >5 minutes for it to load.
May 13th, 2007 at 11:22 am
I find my site running very solw now.what about yours?
May 13th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
I think you’ll find that when the panel appears to be down, it isn’t. Do a tracert & see where the problem is.
DH uses the panel themselves, so if it were to go down, they’d already know and would be working on it.
The panel is its own thing and isn’t connected to your account, so when you can’t reach either, it’s usually a problem somewhere in between… which is where tracert comes in handy.

server mrpibb is down too
May 13th, 2007 at 4:47 pm
There server isn’t down and your site loads just fine. Try a tracert if you can’t see it.
May 13th, 2007 at 9:54 pm
Email is not working
May 13th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
Email is working.
May 14th, 2007 at 7:15 am
No it’s not, it’s sleeping…
May 14th, 2007 at 7:33 am
Wow yeah the panel is basically centralized. Its not part of your cluster! …….
May 14th, 2007 at 8:25 am
is it me or is the panel painfully slow. i cant even send a ticket
May 14th, 2007 at 10:28 am
Panel is either responding with invalid HTML, error codes, or takes minutes to load a single page. After ~10 tries I only just now got the login page. Submitted the form and now waiting >4 minutes for it to load. OK, now another error page.
Of course we can’t file a ticket, and sending to support@dreamhost.com just bounces back if you don’t have an existing ticket #.
Argh! DH, you have two problems here from a customer service perspective:
A) http://status.dreamhost.com/ has no mention of the panel problems. Aren’t we supposed to rely on that to know about outtages?
B) You need a way for users to enter tickets when they can’t get to the panel. What if I could not login or some other problem that was specific to me? Nobody else would be complaining but I’d have no avenue to report/debug the problem
