SMTP Problems

We had some problems with SMTP a while ago and the issue is now resolved. Sorry about the service downtime. One of the drives on the database server used for SMTP authentication caused the problems noticed today. We have fixed the issue and are taking steps to make sure this does not occur again, namely a monitor service on the drives for the server. Sorry again about the service disruption, you should now be able to send messages without any problems though there may be a delay initially.

    As of 11:18am PDT our mailserver is working, mostly-sort-of, but very, very slow & sluggish and occasionally timing out.

    It may be totally unrelated to this problem, but I have lost all email in the “Sent” folder on my IMAP server… I’m filling a support ticket right now, but though you’d like to know…

    I cant receive any email. Last time this happend, the emails (even those I sent as test) NEVER came back.

    I cant loose emails, and this is the fourth time email issues have been a major problem (not sure of other intermittent problems in between).

    Servers must be over crowded?? I know when I log in to telnet, and look at all users, there are a terrible terrible lot of us on a single server…

    crammed maybe?

    Anyway, hope the issues resolve, cause there certainly are still issues. Emails outside of dreamhost are working fine.

    SMTP is NOT working on all accounts. I can recieve, but not send. Send was working at 3:54AM PAC then stopped altogether when, fifteen minutes later, I tried sending another email.

    Tried to submit a support ticket through that VERY UGLY system you now have, and, upon filling in all the requirements AND posting the error codes from the mailer including using port 587 as well as the standard 25, the stupid, and I mean stupid little wizmo just goes round and round, never showing that the ticket was sent!

    Frustrated.

    SMTP seems down as of 14:19 GMT+1 (Central Europe).

    Mozilla T-bird reports “SMTP server mail.xxxxxx.dreamhosters.com failed.”

    My SquirrleMail outgoing does work, however.

    You’ve always been a great hosting firm and I’m sure you’ll get it fixed soon. Good Luck.

    As of now, not only doesn’t SMTP work at all. But it also appears POP is down too. Or connection go through (no POP error) but none of the mails sent in the past 1-2 hours appear. I just tested on webmail too.

    About an hour ago it stopped being possible to send mail. Now it won’t receive either. My server is butler and I am on the spunky cluster for email. Dreamhost really needs to do something about the reliability of its mail set up.

    still not working. Can’t send mail all day using the DH SMTP. Having to use my localhost SMTP BUT I’m getting rejections there too because recipient hosts SPAM checkers are unable to connect to my DH SMTP to verify my sending account is real…
