DreamHost Status

If you have users that you only use with SSH and/or SFTP you can now disallow FTP logins altogether from our web control panel. To do this, simply go here:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=users.users&
Then edit the user you want to change, and toggle the ‘Disallow FTP?’ checkbox. Save the user and the change will go live in [...]

It looks like the backup hard drive in guinness has called it quits. We have to take the server down to replace it, as it is not one of the hot-swap raided hard drives that your live MySQL data resides on. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, the downtime should only be about 10 minutes.

UPDATE: 2007/06/07 6:49PM PDT - We are in the middle a more thorough investigation and some new information has turned up. While we did detect some unauthorized access to our user web control panel, in at least some cases it looks like that may not be to blame for the compromised ftp accounts. [...]

In just a few short minutes, we’ll be upgrading our WebFTP system. During the upgrade, we’ll have to take the system offline so we can change the database layout. It should only be a few minutes until WebFTP is up and running again.

As you may already know, the web panel is offline. We haven’t determined the exact cause yet, but believe it’s a switch failure. Our admins are working on it right now, and will have an update for you shortly.
