stewarts getting new hardware

The machine ’stewarts’ looks to have a faulty network card which is causing major instability in the machine. We are going to move stewarts over to new hardware.
This process will take about 30 minutes to an hour. We will post an update here when it has been completed.

Stimpy lost a drive

The MySQL server “stimpy” has experienced a drive failure. We’re working on getting the issue resolved as soon as possible, and this entry will be updated when stimpy is back in action.

Rack Consolidation!

In an effort to continue bringing you, our customers, our amazingly low prices, we’re consolidating some of our racks that are mostly empty, so we can reuse them without buying all new racks!
To do this, we need to move a few servers around. Tonight at around 2am we’ll be moving the following servers:

Hummer getting new hardware

We have not been able to get hummer to reply back to us, so we’re getting it on brand new shiny hardware. This should take less than an hour to complete. We’re very sorry for the downtime, but we’re going to get it back running very quickly.

Mail Problems on Postal/Spunky/Randy/Spacey

Unfortunately our primary mail load balancer crashed and rebooted causing mail problems to all the mail servers listed above. Our secondary load balancer took over but needed a manual update to get going. Everything is coming back now and we’ll keep an eye on the load balancer.

Skittle getting new hardware

We are having some networking issues with the skittle web server this morning, it is being moved to new hardware so resolved the issue as fast as possible. Service will be restored shortly, check back for updates.

The move is finished, all services restored according to the monitoring system. Sorry for the downtime.

Moving servers tonight

In order to make more efficient use of power in our datacenter, I’ll be moving a few servers tonight between 2 and 3 a.m., PDT. The racks are very close to each other, so downtime per server should be no longer than five minutes each.

Postal file server moves

On tuesday, July 17th, 2007, at 10pm, we will be moving the Postal file servers in to join their web server’s in our other datacenter. This will mean a total downtime of all web and email services for the postal cluster. We expect the downtime to take about 1 hour.
