RESOLVED Webpanel Maintenance, August 15, 10PM PDT

We will be performing some maintenance on our central databases beginning Wednesday, August 15 at 10PM PDT and ending 3 hours later at Thursday, August 16 at 1AM PDT. The expected downtime within this window is 2 hours. This will bring the DreamHost Webpanel, as well DreamHost-provided Squirrelmail offline.

UPDATE 12:59 AM PDT:

It looks like everything finished up without a hitch about an hour ago so all should be well again!

    I can see that you do most of the essential maintenance in the PDT nightime. But of course those of us in Europe experience it at other times of the day.

    Is it not possible to spread the timing? This means that for me email will be down in the day.

    I am in Europe and I don’t mind the downtime since it is for a good cause. But I would appreciate if the announcements here included time reference for us here in Europe.

    Anon - The maintenance instances are generally used to address performance issues in the panel.

    Hi.

    I cannot access my email or any of the other dreamhost sites (main, panel, etc). Just this one.

    I can SEND email using my regular settings - but CANNOT receive my email at all. I can use the webmail (squirrel) interface to check my mail but what a pain in the ass!

    PLEASE DREAMHOST. Sort this out - I cant even access your site to report the fault.

    doing it again - and tried to email support@dreamhost.com (cannot access the panel) and it got returned as I didn’t have an open number in the subject. Yay.

    Simon - I agree that that is a problem. How can you report the panel’s down when the panel is down? (trick, send it to the sales inquiry email address, it actually goes to the same guys, but don’t tell them I told you)

    can access the panel now (and my webmail) but for some reason my mail program (Apple Mail) cannot get through again… argggh.

    Why aren’t e-mails sent out about this??
    It’d be nice to know ahead of time rather than going to the Panel, seeing it’s down, then coming here to find out an announcement was made that it was down. Sorry, but don’t have time to check here every day for the next `maintenance` schedule.
