Krakatoa mysql server problems
The mysql server krakatoa is experiencing some hardware problems. Our admins are checking out the issue now. As soon as we have further info this post will be updated. Our apologies for the downtime.
–UPDATE– Thu Sep 20 09:54:35 PDT 2007
Krakatoa has been successfully booted and we’re copying data off to a new server right now. It seems a RAID issue with one of the partitions was making it inaccessible. We’ll resolve this post once MySQL is up and running on the new server. We appreciate your patience.
–UPDATE– Thu Sep 20 11:43:02 PDT 2007
All of Krakatoa’s MySQL databases have been moved over to server Sifl. They’re all up and running normally again. Please contact support if you are still having problems with your databases.

OMG that’s a server that runs one of my sites, what am i going to do!!!
Lard, Mariana - If you’re having problems with other servers here isn’t the place to post it… try popping over to panel.dh and reporting it there…
“annoyed” - they’ve been doing it for long enough, i think they know more about it than you.

Good work Bob!

@annoyed - “severity” has nothing to do with the seriousness of the problem - if they’ve posted it on this blog, then they are treating it as a serious problem. The “severity” listed in the post has to do with how many servers/customers are affected. So one server = low severity (where did you get “medium” from?

they probably got medium because its an mysql server that causes downtime for sites on many other servers…

See what you get for trying to use Java on it?

@hardedge - made me laugh.
I’m not sure it’s the best idea to name one of your servers after a volcano that’s famous for having the most spectacular explosive failure.

@brasscrest - ya think?
Actually, for doing what volcanoes do, Krakatoa was more of a “spectacular explosive” *success*, to my way of thinking!
