dreamhoststatus.com maintanence
We will be doing some work with dreamhoststatus.com for the next few hours, so access to it may be sporadic.
You may get strange errors and/or broken pages while we’re doing this, but hopefully it won’t take very long
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause!
Sincerely,
The Happy DreamHost Break The Status Page Robot
Update: 9/24 2:24am pacific: Ooops, forgot to resolve this. It was only unavailable for a few minutes, and is back up and running fine now!

Hey, my site is not working, is that related to this clearly unrelated thing? I have really had it with Dreamhost and their honesty, all these other hosts never admit to going down.
I think you should have quadruple-redundant data centers and 450 OC3 lines at each of those sites plus your own sextuple-redundant hydroelectric plants and power grids to make sure it stays up always.
Dreamhost is the worst, I am going to leave, really I am, no really, really, I mean it, I am going to leave. Just as soon as I actually make $120, which should be in two weeks, when I am promoted to junion assistant deep-fryer operator at Bob’s Big Boy and get that 8-cent-per-hour raise to $6.94 per hour.
September 22nd, 2007 at 8:19 pm
Yea! No kidding! I’ve been referring people left, right and center for the last 8 years and haven’t had to pay more than $3 for hosting. What’s up with that?!
And now, thanks to you guys, the BIG BUSINESS I run on your budget host with excellent features is now LOOSING ME $$$x4! EVARY MINUTE the status page is down! zomg! I couldn’t possibly DREAM of having a BACKUP PLAN for my oh so critical website. I mean, JEEZ, I’m only making 18 kabillion an hour! How could I possibly perform a cost/benefit analysis all on my lonesome.
I wish I could call and complain to you and accomplish NOTHING PRODUCTIVE AT ALL but I never bothered to read about how you don’t have a full time call center staffed in order to maintain your lower costs before signing up. Never mind that contacting you via email is just as effective in the majority of cases.
Maybe I’ll just go back to reading the forum I host that has 12 people on it… Or maybe my little blog with next to no readership. I’m sure my Aunt Susan will be very sad if she can’t see my cat pictures…
September 22nd, 2007 at 8:23 pm
I would be very sad if i couldn’t see your cat pictures for a whole 4 hours, i mean how could i live. and with you paying all this money to get hosted on the internet. i mean, it must take less than a minute of work once a week to pay for this. honey, add some more cat pictures please?
see you thanksgiving

my 110+ sites in delorean are down again and again !
September 22nd, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Good Luck on the weekend maintenance guys.
Even though there are those who look to complain at every turn - some of us long time customers know that you are doing an admirable job!
September 22nd, 2007 at 10:09 pm
You’re making me laugh. It is welcome.
Except my site’s not down. Damn you DreamHost, damn you!
I can’t share in the humour.
September 22nd, 2007 at 10:11 pm
Wait a second… 110+ sites going down?
Last I looked Dreamhost’s top hosting plan was $34.95 a month but most people never looked at anything over the 19.95 code monster plan… so you’re paying 18 cents per site per month and complaining?
Go buy a dedicated server in a tier 1 datacenter if you want enterprise class.

Bunch of DreamHost ass-kissers.
September 23rd, 2007 at 12:25 am
That’s right… anyone that doesn’t cry non-stop and blame all of their problems in life on Dreamhost is definitely an ass kisser.

new customer?
that’s bad…. good luck to you
September 23rd, 2007 at 12:28 pm
You all suck, I’m switching to a more localized host (not cause of dreamhosts suckyness) mostly because of the speed diffrence :D. So all you “really cool dreamhost users that acc got 100000+ pages” try that. Otherwise don’t complain and if your site is slow call your ISP…

Well, I have to say it’s enjoyable once again to notice that the comments have no bearing on the post as usual.
Consider this one more vote for turning off comments and recommending that people complain at http://dev.null.com/forums

So thanks to you we have every freakin Aunt loading every freakin nephew’s photo gallery hosted on my shared server?
Thanks,..That explains the crochet knitting speed servers the old age like forgetfulness of the Dreamhost DNS…
If it’s all about getting what you pay for run your own crappy server for FREE. Why even pay $3?
I got your Cost vs. Benefits Analysis “RIGHT HERE…”
September 24th, 2007 at 4:45 pm
if you are not happy with hosting do it yourself http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
btw remember to keep up security updates , pay your own power bill which will more than likely be more than the hosting here per year to run, and you wont have one click installs.
oh forgot you will need a computer with xp I think as well.
total cost
about 3000 to set up and about $130 a year to maintain
oh wait there is more … you need a decent upstream on your internet connection.
make that $3000 set up and about $400 a year to maintain.
