Don't know if it's starting up again. Getting about 10 bytes/second transfer rate. Yes, that's 10 bytes, not 10KB or 10MB...

Downloading a 4.16KB email is taking about five minutes...
11/17/07 - 3:58p CST

Managed to get from 600 bytes to 1.42KB downloaded in the time it took to type this...

Very, very broken.

As far as I can tell mail is received and readable in webmail ok.

Forwarding is very spotty…about 1/3 of my mail accounts are forwarding properly. Others just receive into webmail and don’t forward.

Where do I call and yell about moving mail service off this server????

i'm using google apps for mail and it is working great with perfect uptime as of so far, it IS google after all

@jung - Where does DH advertise reliability of service? All the DH ads I've ever seen stress bandwidth, storage, large numbers of email accounts, but not reliability.

The email I am now receiving in the account that my email forwards to is not allowing me to respond to the email. Is this because the data is being migrated over?

you are absolutely correct mr. volta. and if i wasn't a part time network admin working for a small but excellent private school i would run our own mail server. but ... if a company (like dreamhost) advertises it's reliability of service, and i can save some money for the school ($120 a year for dreamhost email, versus server hardware & setup/maintence hours) to funnel into things like say, teacher salaries/benefits and student services, i don't think it's too much to ask that dreamhost's services work more consistently than they seem to.

nonetheless, mr. volta, thanks for the snarky comments and admin 101 suggestions. you make me laugh as well.

@BenA - There is no direct phone support. If you're (as it sounds) still within the 97-day money back period, simply go to the panel, under Billing, then Manage Account. Right under the account name there is a link to "Close this account".
