Problem with spacey cluster.
We are currently having problems with the spacey clusters. The problem is being caused by a filer that is having NFS problems. It is being taken down for a reboot at this time and should be back up shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience and will update this post as soon as the filer comes back up.
UPDATE–
The problem has been fixed, after a phone call to a vendor we have found the problem with the filer and corrected it.

Nobody can be goats’ed, no goats’ed one can complain… web and mail are down, I think dreamhost is more “what we’d dream of dreamhost to be” as “the dream we’re living as dreamhost customers”…
Please fix, I’ve got complaints from goatse lovers.
October 16th, 2007 at 2:46 am

Yet another spacey cluster failure, added on to the recurring filer problems it looks like we are doomed again for another spell of no email, no websites and no ssh.
I eventually got moved off of Monster on to Frappe but guess what, same filer. doh!
October 16th, 2007 at 2:58 am
3 of my sites are all down -
There were down yesterday for a couple of hours
They were down last week for a couple of hours
There have been down the last month for random spells…starting to get annoying now
October 16th, 2007 at 2:59 am
It would appear the Janky cluster is also affected, no websites or ssh here either (trying to log on to Dione)

October 16th, 2007 at 3:04 am
First time I have personally noticed my sites being down in the pass few months.
I hope for a quick resolution of this problem.
October 16th, 2007 at 3:04 am
this is the worst service I have seen… plain bad.
October 16th, 2007 at 3:09 am
I’m paying 40 bucks or so a year for their service (and probably most of you are), so stop whining and buy your own servers if you need 99.999% uptime for your website.
Regarding email - get Google Aps for the domain if you want your email to be available always.
Good luck dreamhost fixing this! Let’s hope it won’t take long.
October 16th, 2007 at 3:16 am
Looks like this has hit Brisk as well… Everything is down on brisk.
However, I am getting ‘error id: “bad_httpd_conf”‘ on 2 of the domains….
October 16th, 2007 at 3:16 am
Audrius, we are paying money for a service that we are not getting. Would you buy a car that only worked some of the time, or a kettle that only boiled ‘most’ of the time? Buying our own servers isn’t the issue, the issue is that DH are failing their customers and what is becoming a weekly basis.
October 16th, 2007 at 3:20 am
Badly!!! Very badly!!!! ((((((((

How Ironic, I just found this on their home page
Ten years is a long time in this business.
We’ve seen competitors come and go.
We’ve seen features explode and prices plummet.
We’ve seen random people set up shop in our parking lot.
We’ve seen how much customers like our sales. So we’re having another one. Right now. Today.
Thanks for ten wonderful years. We’re here to stay.

If I pay 1/5 of the usual price for a car or kettle - sure, I would expect them not to work sometimes. Would you?
October 16th, 2007 at 3:30 am
So are we the customers the fat sleeping kid, or is it Dreamhost in the above mentioned ad on the front page?
October 16th, 2007 at 3:30 am
CA: Yes, I’d buy a car that will fail one day at month for $7.99 . Where can I buy it ?
October 16th, 2007 at 3:41 am
Our domain come back.
October 16th, 2007 at 3:44 am
if I bought a car at whatever price, new, from a car seller, I would expect it to work. If I bought a second hand car at a yard I would expect it to be temperamental.
Looks like the problem is solved, thanks for fixing it DH but please prevent rather than fix!
October 16th, 2007 at 3:44 am
my 5 sites are down please fix it soon
thanks
October 16th, 2007 at 3:50 am
I’m on the Jankycluster and my page keeps getting errors now! I’m new to this whole thing. All of a sudden I’m getting database errors. Is a filer the server that stores all the databases?
October 16th, 2007 at 3:54 am
Our domain come back.

October 16th, 2007 at 6:27 am
My forums still down.
October 16th, 2007 at 7:00 am
@Danny - if you’re talking about the site you linked, it comes up for me (at least the front page does - didn’t try to go any further because it’s in a language I don’t understand . . .)
October 16th, 2007 at 7:52 am
Tropicana is getting the bad_httpd_conf error as well. I’m getting frustrated with this.
October 16th, 2007 at 8:05 am
wow, after this the account test shows a huge number of errors!
do i really have to go through all this crap and fix it myself?
=(
October 16th, 2007 at 8:16 am
janky’s down, yet again….
October 16th, 2007 at 8:31 am
janky has been down EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past three days. i’ve filed ticket after ticket with same canned response from dreamhost flooded with apologies but no specifices given for action they will take to rectify the problem.
October 16th, 2007 at 8:34 am
Our DB seems to be completely screwed up. Anyone else?
October 16th, 2007 at 9:43 am
Wow, more spamming lowlifes–big surprise.
Anyone that joins MT is a moron. Their spam is puked all over DH’s sites way too much for them to not be involved. There are thousands of hosts out there and MT is NOT at the top of the list… so it’s hard to call it a coincidence.
Not to mention, anyone that signs up with ANY host that they learn about through site spamming is an idiot. That’s why spam works–because idiots fall for it.
October 16th, 2007 at 9:46 am
terrible… my sites were down for five seconds. i demand better uptime.
go dreamhost. b
October 16th, 2007 at 9:49 am
One of my sites is working. The other four are still down. I requested to be moved to another server. I’m wondering if they only moved the one site and left the other ones behind.
October 16th, 2007 at 9:52 am
Yanky Still down , cmon guys…
October 16th, 2007 at 10:23 am
I am paying 100 a month and still goes down… Dreamhost is a nightmare.
October 16th, 2007 at 10:25 am
How are you managing to spend $100/month?
October 16th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
J, you DO realize that DH does dedicated hosting too, don’t you?
October 16th, 2007 at 1:15 pm
Yeah–but not for $100/month.
October 16th, 2007 at 11:27 pm
Possibly a private server set at 1010Mhz? That’ll cost $101.00.
March 2nd, 2008 at 6:02 am
Cool, the post.
Thanks for the information.
