Scheduled downtime of central services.
Tomorrow Oct 18th 2007 at around 12:30-1AM PST we will be performing maintenance on some of our central services. This maintenance will include..
discussion.dreamhost.com (Dreamhost discussion forums)
dreambook.com (Dreambook)
wiki.dreamhost.com (Customer Wiki)
Webftp
Cloaked domains (Any domains that you have set to use cloaking in the panel)
We expect the outage to not last longer then an hour. The purpose of this upgrade is to move these services onto redundant new load balancers which will improve their performance.
UPDATE — 2:16:37 PDT OCT 18 2007
The upgrades have been completed, most services affected have returned to normal with an exception to discussion.dreamhost.com and wiki.dreamhost.com. The ip of these had to be changed so dns must propagate again for them. This should be completed in a couple hours for most people but may take longer for others. If you notice any problems please contact support with information regarding the outage.

“The purpose of this upgrade is to move these services onto redundant new load balancers which will improve their performance.”
That sounds like a great plan. Thanks for the “heads up”!

Why is my mysql server tomeo goeas down and DREAMHOST does not do nothing till I post a ticket to fix it?
It happened several times and even if I submit a ticket to fixt the msql as it takes 40 seconds to load compared to 1 sec at hostmonster.com they say the problem is in my script. EVEN that I have the exact same site on both hostings.

@Hani - DH has over 300,000 customers and thousands of servers in three different data centers. You have to post a ticket because otherwise they might not know that there is a problem. They would probably know if the whole server went down, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong that they just don’t have the time or staff to monitor.
For your MySQL “issue”, you’re not comparing apples to apples. Are you running on the same versions of MySQL in both places? How about whatever you’re using to access the data? How about security and other installation options? It’s likely that many things could be different. A script that works efficiently in one environment may not work efficiently in another.

Server ‘Fainadryer’ is down…

Starting a bit early? Panel and Webftp aren’t responding, right now!

It would appear they’re having the regularly scheduled “Major network issue”. Their network is having massive packet loss at the border.
It seems to be settling down again as I finally got a ssh connection again, but I doubt that will last long.

Could you please remember to post the times in a consistent timezone? You write “12:30-1AM PST” in the post and the clock on the site (good idea with a clock!) tells the time in PDT.
I am from Denmark, and without looking it up I have no idea if they are the same or not. I would prefer if you stick to GMT or at least gave the GMT time as well as the PDT/PST time.
By the way: it turns out that PDT = Pacific Daylight Time and PST = Pacific Standard Time, so there is a 1 hour difference between PDT and PST.

They just posted an announcement:
Network Issue
One of our core routers is dropping about half of its packets at the moment. Our admin staff is working very hard to resolve this problem right now. This will cause outages and slowdowns for the majority of our customers.
We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing. We will post again when we have more information.
Severity: High Resolved: No
Current Time Is 12:12:20 PDT.
