Network Outage
We are experiencing network problems at the moment. This will account for for downtime, delay, etc. that you are encountering when accessing your site, email, etc. Our Admins are currently working on the issue as I type. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Please check back for future updates.
UPDATE 10:39 PST
The network problems have been resolved. A DDOS attack launched on a customers site was the root cause of recent downtime. Again, we apologize the inconvenience this has caused and truly appreciate your continued patience and loyalty.

Good, finally the update.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:10 am
Go go Network 911!!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:10 am
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.”
I AM JUST TIRED OF READING THAT IN THIS PAGE
October 26th, 2007 at 10:10 am
Was just bout to report this, seeing how it’s been slow or the last 20 minutes.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:11 am
Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Again!!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:11 am
DreamHost… more like NightmareHost.
Who hosts dreamhoststatus.com? It seems to be always up…
October 26th, 2007 at 10:11 am
Well, all I can do is take lunch then.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:11 am
Again….is it me or Dreamhost pretty flaky! I’m finally getting some traffic to my site and now it’s down.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:12 am
thanks!!
around 20minutos of slowness
October 26th, 2007 at 10:12 am
“Who hosts dreamhoststatus.com? It seems to be always up…”
You’re not going to put your status website on the same server that may go down.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:12 am
this is really frustrating.
does this mark the 3rd or 4th time in the last 3 weeks? i’m starting to lose count.
today may mark the last time it happens because i’m searching for a new host, sad.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:12 am
Network down … Anger rising … Quantity of exclamation marks (following typical irate response) increasing …!!!!!!!!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:13 am
I’m starting to think moving to DH was a mistake.
Is it time to go looking again ?
October 26th, 2007 at 10:13 am
Lets call dr. House
October 26th, 2007 at 10:14 am
Very very slow turkey in web sites:(
October 26th, 2007 at 10:14 am
Wow, this is getting old old old. I have not even been a customer for a year yet and have seen WAY to many outages. You guys need to seriously re-evaluate your entire operations. This is just plain ridiculous.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:18 am
Trying to decide whether you guys at DH are A$$ Clowns or A$$ Monkeys. What a freaking joke…moving my stuff to someone else over the weekend…good luck to those of you who truly believe in DH…
October 26th, 2007 at 10:21 am
This seems pretty par for the course for Dreamhost. At one time, they were a great option for freelancers and small startups but the lack of reliability over the past 18 months can seriously damage one’s reputation with clients. We’ve been slowly (i.e. over the course of 2-3 months) migrating all of our web properties to Media Temple as time allows. Eventually we won’t need to deal with making excuses to clients all of the time.
Bottom Line: You get what you pay for and DH offers more than most at the price…but the downside is the reliability. If you are doing work for clients, I wouldn’t recommend DH for anything other than it’s seemingly great SVN service (usually fast as lightning.)
October 26th, 2007 at 10:21 am
My site performance has been going downhill for about the last month and a half. Lots of outages, lots of complaining forum members, super high load on the servers, horrible throughput, lots of timeouts. No real answers.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:21 am
I haven’t even moved live sites to DreamHost and they have had enough downtime that it has slowed development, even on a Private Server. Will be examining more closely DreamHost as our choice…with no phone support, the panel is down and there is no way to report issues except through this “not an official contact method” blog…
October 26th, 2007 at 10:21 am
The kid on the DH frontpage is sleeeping, can someone awake him up and tell him to do something?
October 26th, 2007 at 10:22 am
uff, problems again, here from Chile the navigation is ver very slow to some dremhost sites and my sites not working =/ also ns2.dreamhost.com is out of service
October 26th, 2007 at 10:24 am
“does this mark the 3rd or 4th time in the last 3 weeks? i’m starting to lose count.”
Try the second time in well less than 24 hours.
My favorite error msg so far is this one that I got when trying to get to the status page 5 minutes ago. That was certainly worked out quick enough.
Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql.dreamhoststatus.com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:24 am
I have 25 clients on DH. I should be expecting many many calls any minute now. DH is really pissing my clients off, not to mention ME as I recommended them!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:25 am
@SpencerThayer:
“You’re not going to put your status website on the same server that may go down.”
I’m not an idiot. I was trying to be sarcastic and suggest we all move our sites there.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:25 am
i`m starting to get bord with this host… to slow
October 26th, 2007 at 10:26 am
This is getting a little out of control.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:28 am
20 minutes passed … i guess they’re having lunch or something.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:32 am
You guys bellyache too much. This stuff happens with every host, and no matter how great it looks before you sign up, you still run into this. Web hosting is like a car; you purchase it (or make payments) but that doesn’t guarantee it will always work. Sometimes maintenance is needed. Get over it guys!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:32 am
Seems everythings fine for me again. Was only slow for like 30 minutes.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:36 am
“Wubwub Says:
DreamHost… more like NightmareHost.
Who hosts dreamhoststatus.com? It seems to be always up…”
Congratulations!!! You have been selected in our search for most unoriginal post ever in this blog! You have managed to post the SINGLE TWO most parroted phrases in ONE post, and with a totally straight web face as if you REALLY thought you were THE FIRST EVER to say either of those things!!!
Sorry, you did NOT get the bonus points you WOULD have gotten had you mentioned how much money you are losing right now, but since our Vulcan judges inform us that you DID THINK TO YOURSELF “That’s it, I’m going to MEDIA TEMPLE” you DO qualify for a parting consolation gift, NOT SHIT!!!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:36 am
Jesus, it’s just every few days, problems again. You always say you’re going to fix them for good but they always happen.
I think it’s about time to find a new host.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:40 am
@VOO:
Backstabbing someone in the same sinking boat as yourself? Classy.
I DIDN’T know THAT originality was a REQUIREMENT for comments posted HERE.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:41 am
Eh…
October 26th, 2007 at 10:42 am
90 minutes of network slowness.
This used to be a good hosting.
Any recommendations of good hosting services?
If this continues, i’ll move away.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:42 am
Well, when it happens 5 times per week, it means i am still paying for a broken car.
By “sometimes” i understand once every 3-5 months, not daily as it happens here.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:43 am
The biggest problem with Dreamhost is that they host too many crybaby faggots, making the comments section of this page useless.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:44 am
You know what’s weird guys - it’s that even when OUR sites are down, this forum is still up and going! Isn’t that wierd!
I think they should change their name to Nightmare Host - you know, instead of Dream Host.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:44 am
I’m almost of the opinion this is the same issue they didn’t fix yesterday; still can’t create databases or ftp in. Dreamhost.com wasn’t even accessible yesterday evening. DH get your act together. SERIOUSLY
October 26th, 2007 at 10:45 am
@Renee
I’ve never been on a host with this many problems. I’ve been on free hosts with less hassle and downtime.
If you don’t want to complain, then don’t. Last time I checked this stuff was being done out of the US, and in the US we do still have freedom of speech. You have the freedom to not read here if you don’t want to, and we have the freedom to reply to your stupid comments, which you have the freedom to make.
VOO, congrats on winning fanboy/girl moron of the afternoon award. Now go play in traffic.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:45 am
wait a minute… why is THIS site up and running, when OURS are not! Maybe they should change their name to BAD DREAM Host! Haha, get it? Kind of like Dream Host, but it is a Bad Dream instead of a good dream….
October 26th, 2007 at 10:46 am
RE: Well, when it happens 5 times per week, it means i am still paying for a broken car.

It happens everywhere. Other hosts just hide it, or blame others, etc….. How many other hosts do you see with a status page where they let their sissy customers sit around and cry together?
If they were doing better, they’d have nothing to hide.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:47 am
So, Boo bitch, since DH don’t read this comments anyway, what would your little fucktard ass suggest happen here?
You should go play in traffic with VOO, there’s nothing more pathetic than someone whining about people whining.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:48 am
I gave Red’s mother a Cleveland Steamer while she was licking my nuts.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:49 am
I’m starting to like these outages. Reading the furious comments is great comedy.
Me, I took a break and made some lunch. I guarantee the DH people are working their proverbial ass off to fix this.
Lighten up, people.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:49 am
LOL.. that’s the best you can do?
Go back to your pathetic little existence, you’re not even worth my time or effort past this post. At least VOO crap is mildly entertaining, yours shows a lack of creativity.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:50 am
OK guys, why don’t we focus on some trivia… get some anger out….
Which President was shot directly in the face and survived?
October 26th, 2007 at 10:51 am
Hah, trick question! I don’t know if this happened or didn’t, but if Hillary becomes President, you know that mean mugged biotch could shrug off a shot.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:53 am
DreamHost? more like BOROPHYLL!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:54 am
Hey, is anyone still having trouble? All of the sudden we cannot SMTP out mail.
