cerritos isn’t very social

Posted (November 1st, 2007 at 3:28 pm PST) by kitchen

Cerritos appears to be having some issues with one of its network interfaces, so we’re going to give it new hardware.

This move should take about 30-45 minutes and we will post again here with updates as things progress.

Hopefully this will alleviate some of the issues it’s been having!

Update 3:54PM pacific: the hardware failover has been completed and services are being configured. We’ll update again when everything is completed!
Update 4:14PM pacific: the failover process has completed, please contact support if you are having any issues!

Oh My, My site is down now, and I can’t get to the Main page

from: HostTracker Notifier

content-type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hello,

The following url is down:

http://www.chosenspotdesign.com

the error detected is:

Http error:Http_client.No_reply

Error was detected at 2007-11-01 20:38:53

The site appears to be up and running fine from here… and your own uptime badge says 99.57%. What, exactly, are you complaining about?

Also, we sort of have this little thing we call “support” back in the web-panel. You might want to send your messages to DH there first.

Hello,

http://www.chosenspotdesign.com is now back to normal.

Operation restored at 2007-11-01 21:52:23.

Url was down as a result of:

Http error:Http_client.No_reply

First error was detected at 2007-11-01 20:38:53

Last error was detected at 2007-11-01 21:51:52

Downtime total 1 hour(s) 12 min(s) 59 sec(s).

Check failures total: 3.

Your login:MamaLoca

And well, I sort of tried to get to my web panel and It wasn’t available during the 1 hour down time. I wasn’t too concerned really but I wanted to document the outage somehow.

I wasn’t so much complaining, just wondering if anyone else was experiencing trouble.

My site is still down. It seems that problem haven’t been solved yet.

Don’t forget, it could be ANY of the network connections between you and the server. I know my ISP sucks - often.

I think dreamhost is having some serious issues with hackers currently, but isn’t saying anything about it…why do I say that? I had a shell user add themself to my account 2 nights ago. I tried to delete it, but it hadn’t shown up yet. The next morning I woke up to an email from dreamhost saying the user was violating their TOS…doing port scans on various IP accounts with their shell account. I logged in and deleted the user (it showed up on the list now), contacted dreamhost (who said they logged in using my username/password). So then I changed ALL my username and passwords associated with my account (mind you, I use this hosting primarily for personal hobbies and not a full blown hosting business…so I’m the only user with access to the web panel) as well as my password reminder question. Once again, this morning I woke up to another shell account being added. I removed it asap and they added yet another one. Removed it as well. Then received another email for TOS violations…running port scans via their shell account AGAIN. Once again I contacted dreamhost…that was a few hours ago…still have yet to hear from them. I’ve also noticed since everything started happening today, my server (Crenshaw) has been down almost all morning…I can’t access my websites and can’t login via http://FTP. Says my username and password is incorrect (and yes, I made sure it’s using my new password). These passwords are randomly generated passwords and nothing easy to guess…nor does anyone else know them. Soooo…I’m pretty sure these folks are accessing my account via a security vulnerability somewhere. I just hope it’s fixed soon…my website members are beginning to get a little antsy.

Also just thought I’d mention…I’ve also scanned my computer for any viruses/malware to make sure nobody’s running any keyloggers on my machine or anything like that. Nothing. I’m confident that this is an issue with dreamhost. Since they have yet to get back with me and since they apparently haven’t mentioned it here on dreamhoststatus.com…anyone else having issues?

Okay…so it doesn’t appear the website outage is related to the hacking…my server was rebooted and all is fine. But still…is anyone having problems with people getting in and adding new shell accounts or am I just bad luck?

can’t get to panel.dreamhost.com to put in a ticket.. bad bad bad.

Down.

Same here Weirdo.

All of my sites just went down at the same time. I also can’t get to the dreamhost panel, is anyone else having issues???

I can’t get to my site, PassingPerception.com, or to http://www.dreamhost.com/.

Down, down, down…
If dreamhost would spend more time keeping my sites up, and less time posting silly pictures, I’d be happy…

I’m having the same problem. Seems to be the weekly network crash. :( !!!!

Count me in… all of my sites are down as well, and can’t get into the panel to open a ticket. :(

All websites are down. Even dreamhost is down. Not good!

holy crap, not again

Panel and sites are down.

i wonder what it is this time. sigh

ALL of Dreamhost is down!

Always goes down when I need it the most - this lack of reliability is very disappointing.

Oh Jesus, are we at it again!?!??! Control Panel is taking too long to load, and my sites again… Is someone fondling the boxes again or something? I said it before, and I’ll say it again…An old man without the help of Viagra could stay up longer than this.

All of my sites just went down at the same time. I also can’t get to the dreamhost panel, is anyone else having issues???

Probably all your sites went down as well as panel.dreamhost.com.

Yeah, of course it’s down. It’s Friday. Or Thursday. Or Wednesday. Or Tuesday. Or Monday. Or Sunday. Or Saturday.

This is such bullshit. We just moved clients over to Dreamhost from another server they were having problems with. Seems like every goddamned day there’s something crapping out on them - a router, a server, a power connection. I’m so sick of this.

And we can’t even file a ticket because their panel is down.

Who hosts this status page? I think I’ll switch to them.

.es here! All is down! Anyhow, it is good to have this at least to see people screaming, and knowing it is not only my sites.

:D

The same here in Spain.

Oh come on guys !!!!!!!!!! Not again !
It’s the second time in 2 weeks, i’m trying to run a bussiness here :\.
Get the servers up guys !

The servers are probably up, the network is down.

Everything seems to be down. I have sites on four servers that are all down, plus the CP, and mail/webmail. Wonderful.

Seems to be back to normal!

Yup, down here again… hmmm… maybe the panel should be moved to outside the dreamhost network too…

Then we can do our tests/checks etc

I’ve moved 80% of my clients from DH at this point. A few of the remaining are down right now - they’re being moved this weekend.

Have fun!

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

your sites are down again!!! hahahaha

damn, mine too >.

November 2nd, 2007 at 5:36 pmBernie Thompson Says:

My site (on a private server) went down sometime between 4:34 and 5:57pm. Was down for a few minutes. Then came back up. Around 5:30pm, the site went down again, along with panel.dreamhost.com.

No need to worry, we’ll see some announcement posted within a few days to tell us that they’re “working on it”. That’s top-notch quality service for you!

looks like it’s a big one, all of my sites are down and so is the panel. 3rd time this week and none of the outages have been mentioned on the status page, so much for dreamhosts open book policy. Time to find a new host. Been with them since 99, but enough is enough, loyalty should be a two way street.

I bet that they will came here with this “As planned…” shit.

Everything is working again–what is with these downtime spurts though?

I bet that they will came here with this “As planned…” shit.

No no, you’re mixing up Blizzard with DH.

Who hosts this status page? I think I’ll switch to them.

LOL! Not a bad idea at this point.

it’s back right now. but it was down, then back up, then down and now it’s back.

I don’t know about you guys/gals, but I think if we gave Amos (the Amish man) a few servers and shit, he’d probably host us all without any issues.

Someone, please buy DH some Viagra…I’m tired of the up and down, up and down bullshit. It would be nice if DH just stayed the fuck up! If DH could have sex, I’d bet it’d get a negative digit for sexual performance. Buy some super strength Viagra!

Well, they just rebooted Bourbon as well. It would appear as if they have no clue what is going on, so they’re just rebooting everything.

This is getting silly, these are _just_ the network issues:

My hand keeps slipping off the end of my knob every time I have a wank! DH when will you fix my knob! Why am I paying for you to sit around not fixing my slippery knob! This just is not good enough! I demand knob satisfaction!

LOL! Not a bad idea at this point.

Except, as has been said multiple times on this status page, it’s being hosted in a strictly colo/dedicated server datacenter. The same datacenter, in fact, that’s also hosting NS2. So all those people who complain when NS2 experiences latancy? Yeah. That’s these guys.

November 2nd, 2007 at 6:52 pmJames is a dipshit Says:

Oh, if you see James anywhere, be very careful - he is totally anal about posting relevant comments on any post here, he particularly doesn’t like when people comment how they have issues on the DHstatus blog, because, you know, DH are just perfect.

If you’re reading this James - suck my dick you prick.

I demand knob satisfaction!

Use your other hand. And try a little harder not to be a general disgrace to society.

My sites are down again..grr

LOL

it was alot of time since last server down, so i think its time for another one

November 3rd, 2007 at 1:31 pmJames is a dipshit Says:

I AM JAMES! I KNOW ALL! FEAR ME!

dickhead.

I’m getting tired of this BS. My sites have been down for the last 4 years… I’ve put in 862 support requests and still haven’t gotten a reply. DH has two more years and if my sites don’t come up by then I’m packin up my shit and heading over to VistaPages.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11/02/chicaco_datacenter_breaches/

Thank God I have the Dreamhost ninjas to protect my data.

They’ve been down off & on so much, what is the deal? I’m looking to switch hosts now.

I’m sorry but the writing is getting much better in the complaints area.

“I’m sorry but the writing is getting much better in the complaints area.”

I think Dreamhost is really missing the boat on not advertising the free entertainment here as a feature!

November 3rd, 2007 at 11:56 pmJames is a dipshit Says:

hehe you’re right there VOO.

Here we go again…my sites are down yet again :(

Argh…I feel like a frequent visitor of this blog….why can’t they fix this problem for good….

Somebody is abusing/maxing out the server I’m on! :(

“Argh…I feel like a frequent visitor of this blog….why can’t they fix this problem for good….”

There’s only ONE way to fix your problem… remove the evil. The Lord will continue to punish your sites for promoting people to sign up for credit cards (and other misc horseshit), which I can personally vouch for being of The Devil.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

site slow

about 30 seconds to load a page

its been slow for 2 days

Thanks for sharing. Go file a support request. Or pray that google doesn’t cruise your SEO link page right now.

“I think Dreamhost is really missing the boat on not advertising the free entertainment here as a feature!”

Especially since it’s a feature that actually works and doesn’t suffer from constant downtime.

:)

lol…must be the same lunarpage employee posting here over and over…

Nothing so far on EggNog being down. :(

Nothing so far on EggNog being down.

That’s because it’s not. Okay, now, say it with me… File. A. Freaking. Support. Ticket.

And check your own connection - tracert (assuming you’re on windows) is your friend.

And anyone who thinks dreamhost is the only bunch of incompetents -

Failed migration of 200,000 sites …

Argh. Sites are down. :(

Argh. Sites are down.

Well, since you didn’t mention any of them here to confirm that, I can’t say if they are or not. Better file a support ticket. And the first person to say they can’t get into the panel to do so had better be able to copy/paste the results of a traceroute.

Dana is right. ‘Janky’ was down once again.

My site works fine, no downtime for now, greetings.

James Says: A bunch of horseshit & “I can’t say if they are or not. And the first person to say they can’t get into the panel to do so had better be able to copy/paste the results of a traceroute.”

As near as I can tell, The Lord is still holding His chair. WTF are you? I do not recall anything in the TOS that says “JAMES must be able to say if they are or not, and he may also enforce traceroute checks, to which you MUST comply or you will be moved over to VistaPages”.

As near as I can tell, The Lord is still holding His chair. WTF are you?

A customer who sure isn’t giving his money to the lord for hosting service. But thanks for thinking I care.

I do not recall anything in the TOS that says “JAMES must be able to say if they are or not, and he may also enforce traceroute checks, to which you MUST comply or you will be moved over to VistaPages”.

If you’re gonna bitch about your website being down where you shouldn’t be bitching about your website being down, where it’s been stated multiple billions of times in the last week alone DH staff don’t pay much attention here and DH customers can’t fix your problem, then yes, the decent thing to do would be to provide at least one of the supposed websites you’re having problems with, rather than just assuming, as most people love to do, that just because *they* can’t access their website, something on Dreamhost’s end is busted. I’d of thought it to be common sense, which… really shouldn’t have to be put into any TOS. Now, I’ve been wrong before, and I’m sure the local preacher will correct me if I’m wrong this time. Somehow, though, I really don’t think I am. Or that he’ll be sane enough to coherently correct me, but that’s a whole other issue.

That is one boring ass reply there, James. But thanks for playing your best anyway… I’ll let The Lord know you tried!

November 5th, 2007 at 6:04 pmJames is an asshole Says:

James, you are a total asshole. You’ve been pwned repeatedly, but you’re such a dickhead you don’t even know it. I despise self-righteous fuckers like you, who think they know everything but base their ‘knowledge’ on nothing but their own sense of self-importance. I bet you got your ass kicked all the time as a kid, had no friends, and fail at everything you attempt in life - although you’d be in total denial about any of it. You probably still live at home too, because nobody else but your parents would put up with you for more than 5 minutes without kicking your teeth down your throat. If some freak of nature has actually consented to be your insignificant other, they no doubt have an extra chromosome. I hope your parents had the sense to at least sterilize you to avoid any further pollution of the gene pool, you inbred prick. If people posting here bothers you so much, then take your patronizing comments and DON’T FUCKING VISIT HERE, you idiot - do everyone a favor and leave.

James is an asshole is an asshole. (and I’m not just repeating myself.)

@James: This is web hosting. When did “common sense” become involved?

November 5th, 2007 at 6:39 pmJames is an asshole Says:

HAHAHA James’ entry for today on his unbelievably badly designed weblog: “I graduated highschool for a reason, and it wasn’t to go to college.” ..no shit!
James, MovableType is obviously way beyond your level of incompetency, try blogger.

p.s. I understand you have difficulties spelling, but at least use spell check.

November 5th, 2007 at 6:59 pmCharlie Chingas Says:

I WANNA PLAY! FUCK YOU!!! MY SITE IS DOWN! WAH! WAH! JAMES IS AN ASSHOLE…. who is james? does he like midgets and lime-green jello?

I’m sorry James… I really don’t feel good about being an asshole myself. I could try to blame The Devil for my actions, and would even be partially right, but it is up to me to rebuke his influence over me and not take part in the assholisism. I will definitely seek to do better in my future battles with The Ultimate Asshole (The Devil) and not allow my weaknesses to spill out upon my brethren.

hey everyone who comes here. has anyone sent dh a support ticket? it’s been five hours since my last one. just wondering if anyone else is having issues CONTACTIN DH!!!!!!!! ##&#$*&@#()$@#(

internal server error ?

ALL my websites was down for 42 minutes according to pingdom, total 6 sites, all of them were on the same dreamhost server lesabre.

@James: This is web hosting. When did “common sense” become involved?

I know, shame on me for thinking that’d make it into the equasion in just about every situation. Sometimes, I forget I’m talking to a combination of braindead morons and people on crack. Can’t say I didn’t try, though.

HAHAHA James’ entry for today on his unbelievably badly designed weblog: “I graduated highschool for a reason, and it wasn’t to go to college.” ..no shit!

You know what they say, hm? If you don’t like what you’re reading, either lower your standards or screw off. I threw it together overnight for me. That you happen to be able to read it is neither my problem nor my concern.

James, MovableType is obviously way beyond your level of incompetency, try blogger.

The HTML validates. Which was all I was aiming for. Don’t like how it looks from where you sit? Read something else. Then try designing your own with your eyes closed.

You probably still live at home too, because nobody else but your parents would put up with you for more than 5 minutes without kicking your teeth down your throat.

Here goes someone else taking a wild guess and missing by oh… about a mile and a half. And you know, for someone who’s supposedly been to my very badly designed weblog, you’d think you wouldn’t need to guess at something like that–it’s all pretty right there. Oh, wait… that’d mean you’d actually have to read. My mistake.

Common sense? Reading?

Once again I must remind you that it is Web Hosting, not skool.

Werd.

Al of my websites are up. I can even get in to the panel. This is going to be a terrible day…Even the ^%&*J**$% discussion boards are still up…and so is this site…WHY is this site still up?????.

ARRRRGGGHGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Comon Dreamhost…I can’t handlle this…I am not paying you so little for good service… give me a break!

Sites are up…but laaaggy…

Continued issues at other hosting services make DH look “normal”: (Taken from slashdot.org’s firehose service)

“NOC migration goes terribly wrong at One World Hosting and leaves hundreds of hosted sites dark for days. Discount web provider botches migration over the weekend that still has sites dark as of Tuesday. In a nod to customer service, company pulls the 800 number off line to insure that ‘we have all staff working to finish the project and get your web sites and email back to full service as soon as possible.’ Guess the receptionist is busy updating routing tables.”

Actually James, your site does NOT validate, you moron - the index page alone has 284 errors!
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.the-jdh.com/
You probably dont even know what validating means. Your commenting does not work either. Oh, and yes I can and have done better - including upwards of 50 movabletype-based sites (all of which validate btw). I don’t quite understand how you could mess it up as badly as you have, and then leave it like that for months while claiming it validates, and then post your bitchy comments all over dreamhoststatus.com telling everyone what they should and should not do. You clearly can’t even handle the more basic concepts of HTML, and your holier-than-thou interpersonal ’skills’ only further affirm what an asshole you are.

You’re an idiot, and every time you open your mouth, you just illustrate it more.

November 6th, 2007 at 9:07 amJames is an asshole Says:

James said: “If you don’t like what you’re reading, either lower your standards or screw off.”

Pot, Kettle, Black. How about you practice what you preach, asshole.

I am impressed that JIAA (James is an asshole) is enough of a writer to use the correct “You’re” in “You are an idiot.”

I know that JIAA isn’t impressed I noticed, but there are many common mistakes these days deflating the value of their author’s statements.

Well my sites have crashed again….sigh
