Bundy downtime
Unfortunately, the bundy server has been experiencing some trouble this morning. When identified an attempt was made remotely restart the server. This did not work as expected. An admin has been notified and is heading into the data center to directly restart and monitor it. I apologize for any inconvenience this has(may have) caused and thank you for your patience while this is worked on.
Update [10:53]: The server was unable to be brought back online and is now being moved to new hardware.
Update [12:10]: Apache configurations are currently being run on the server. Once this is complete the files will be copied to the server.
I apologize for the lengthy downtime regarding this. The server will be right as rain soon enough, so please hang in there!
Final Update [1:25]! The move to new hardware has been completed as has copying over of the files. All services should be restored. If you are experiencing any trouble reaching your site on bundy, please contact support@dreamhost.com so we can get you back in action as quickly as possible.

You guys are getting better at this! First time in three days!

Any estimated time for it to be back up? I sent links to photos for a customer last night and they are trying to get them for a presentation.

Oooh, I see. o.o Well, thank you for posting this info. I frequently have trouble connecting to SmackJeeves during the day, when at the same time other people can connect just fine. I was hoping this wasn’t just another one of those things that I encounter, but I see that it’s not, so… it’ll get fixed, and this makes me happy.

Down again. Waaa! >

Tara-Lynn - Next time this happens, use a tracert to see if you can figure out where your connection is failing. It may be your ISP or something in the middle causing your connection to fail. If it can be tied to time of day it’s likely traffic overload on that network node.

Bundy might working, Millhouse currently not.
Will wait for a few minutes and file a support request.

Okay, I see there’s downtime yet again. THere’s not an update here yet, so I’ll just hang about to see if there is any change in the situation.
Tara-Lynn: If you have dial-up I can understand. I have problems on a regular basis trying to upload things not just to SJ, but to many other sites (aka: Myspace, Photobucket, DevArt, ect.) But, one must remeber that Smackjeeves also has a fourm which could also severly bog down the site.
[4:38]: The site’s back up.
November 11th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
I’ve always been told the forums do not bog down the SmackJeeves site significantly at all. Not being to able to do work on the site during prime (German) hours such as right now, though, that is a bit of a bog-down.
Ah, by the way, it’s throwing back another SQL error again at the moment.

Not to bad in the old turn around time on the fix considering all the data was transferred.

November 12th, 2007 at 11:58 am
databases down !!! >.
November 12th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
To Enkinda: (sorry if I misspelt it)
Are you on dial-up though? If not, I can tell you that it sometimes takes up to twenty minutes for a full page to load on the internet, not to mention SJ as well.
I’ve also cleaned out my temporary files and cookies, so that continubutes to the slowness as well.
(however, during prime hours it does get bogged down i guess anywhere you are…)
November 12th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
Hey knot, who is the company you moved to?
November 12th, 2007 at 1:52 pm
Hmm, it seems other servers are getting slow as well. It takes ages to stream a tiny .flv, it takes millennia to upload a 20kb file, it takes lightyears to put a posting in a simple wp site. Yaaawwnn.
Oh yeah, I forgot, an earthquake. Well, the trucks driving by make my home tremble too, but I can still cook eggs.

It is really disappointing to see that also servers not named are slowing down.

Hey Kojak
FYI
your Googles adds are messed up. You only allowed 3 per pageā¦not 6

I thought they just had to fit on the page.

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
November 14th, 2007 at 3:30 pm
No, I’m not on dial-up. In fact I have DSL, and at every other time of day the servers run quite nicely and quickly. At the moment, the site *still* throws back SQL errors at certain times of day (that I happen to be working at). It’s quite frustrating.
