system problems
We pushed out a bit of code and it’s having an adverse effect on almost all of our servers. If your site is down now, we’re aware of the issue and are working hard to get everything back up ASAP. Please keep an eye on this status post, as we’ll update it as soon as we have any further information. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this causes you.
UPDATE: The problem seems to have stemmed from an apache security upgrade that we’d tested on nearly 150 servers already over the past few weeks without issue. Some part of the upgrade procedure killed apache services at random, requiring them to be restarted. All services now appear to be back up and we apologize for the downtime.

all my sites are down as well
December 20th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
My sites were down, but now they seem to be back up. Slow, but up.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Already working on the problem. This is why I love dreamhost.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
only one site down, but typically, my most important! *cracks imaginary whip*
December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Yerp.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm

December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Phew, I thought it was just me having problems!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Good Luck.
We are waiting …
December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
All my sites on babyruth and redbull are down.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
in before a bunch of people crying about poor service.
PRE-EMPTIVE SHUT THE FUCK UP
everybody just take a deep breath and read a book or something.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
My sites are up, but this does also seem to affect SVN which is not working at the moment.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
I really hope this gets cleared up soon, my site has been down for about two hours now.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
I’ve have multiple accounts with dreamhost, some for several years. It seems like the outages have become more frequent in the last year or two. I’m not sure what is going on there but I may be forced to move my sites to another host if you guys can’t reduce the downtime. I love dreamhost, love the control panel and the extras but it’s simply not worth the downtime I’m getting with your service. Please figure out a way to reduce these issues.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
Talk about Murphy’s law, I had a roll out today, aaaaaaaaargh.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
What was the code for?
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
Isn’t this what QA is for?
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
I still have ssh access to redbull and babyruth, and both are replying to pings. DNS requests are resolving correctly for domains on those machines.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
Merked
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
all my sites are also down
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
All my sites on rollo are down.
quick response, i was getting worried there for about 5 minutes
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
Aaaargh!
Why do the sites go down at the worst %^#^%^# possible time?
If I went with a dedicated server would I have to put up with this BS?
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
All my sites have been down for at least 30 mins now. I am not happy.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
A lot of my sites are down, but some are up, and all of my email is still working? The heck?
I know that people make mistakes and Dreamhost works hard to keep our stuff up. This just happened to be a very unfortunate timing for me as I just started running ads on Google today, and now people are clicking to nothing!
Sad!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
All my sites down =/ ahhhhhhh!!!!!!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
Nother reply. lol.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
“We pushed out a bit of code” .. im wondering what they were thinking -.-
December 20th, 2007 at 12:41 pm
I forgot to mention my FTP is working. Just HTTP services seem to be affected.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:41 pm

December 20th, 2007 at 12:41 pm
Dreamhost hates you all.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
My site is still down. I can not visite it..
December 20th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
All my sites are down!
This is starting to be regular bases thing!
I guess here at dreamhost you have 2 possible conditions -> slow or down …..
December 20th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
My sites are now starting to come back online. Seem to be a little sluggish, though.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Dan, shut down your Google ads until your sites are back up - go to your Google AdWords control panel and “Pause” the campaigns. That’s what I did.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
“What was the code for?”
It’s the new “Magical Fuck-Up” code we’ve been working on.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Here come the obligatory posts.
#1-This is a bad day for this, wtf dreamhost?
#2-You have x minutes before I change hosts forever!
#3-I’ve been with you for x years, why don’t you just x?
Let’s chillax a bit, eh?
December 20th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
So much for getting some work done today. -_-
December 20th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
All up and running now.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Just got one back but the important one is still down…
December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
I deal with many different hosting companies…everyone has downtime. But the intelligence and humor of DreamHost surpasses them all. http://aldebaranwebdesign.com/blog/category/rants/
December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
All sites on arrow are down.
Was the “code push” in question the Rails 2.02 upgrade spoken of earlier on DreamHostStatus?
December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Hourrah for Boxster. Congratulation on the very quick resolution of the troubles.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Babyruth is up but redbull is still down
December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Glad to see they’re already working on the problem.
Good luck.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
cool Raoul it’s back !
December 20th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
I’m always amazed at the number of comments these get. Obviously they know there is a problem. They posted about it here. I suppose some people just enjoy crying out against the horrors of having a webhost who acknowledges that they aren’t perfect and does what they can to keep people updated.
I just recently switched to Dreamhost and although my sites have all gone down twice in the past couple of weeks, they have always come back up pretty quickly. Any time I’ve had issues and opened tickets, I have received very prompt and useful responses. I am optimistic that this batch of downtime will end fairly soon and life will go on as usual.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Fast recovery Dreamhost! Good job!
All our sites are back up.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Come on guys…
I am so embarrassed. Launched a client’s site just a couple of days ago, and already I’m looking bad. Not to mention that the SQL server has been sluggish since the beginning. Argh…
December 20th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Cool!
http://dupola.com is back now.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
So quick at fixing problems. I’m going to stay with dreamhost forever.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Wow…they got it back up while I was typing the previous. Optimism FTW!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:47 pm
My sites are down too… this *really* is not a good time for them to be down.
Sigh.
Waiting.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:47 pm
mine are now all up Thanks for the quick fix
December 20th, 2007 at 12:47 pm

December 20th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Everything seems to work again!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Oh, fixed as I typed. Never mind, DH, you guys rock
December 20th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Several questions I’d like to see answered in the follow-up report on this incident:
1. What was the “bit of code”?
2. Why was it pushed in the middle of the day? (I realize it’s always the middle of the day somewhere, but since the majority of users are in the States, why in the middle of the day here.)
3. Had the code passed testing on an offline testbed?
4. Had the code passed an internal peer code review?
Thanks in advance for enlightening us on what happened.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
It’s back up - almost faster than I could write up a support claim…. Thanks.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
http://foro.vzack.com is back now
December 20th, 2007 at 12:48 pm

December 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm

December 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
All my sites down
December 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
You do have a Dev and Staging environment before you launch changes to Production enviornments? Right? Please tell me that you do…
I know stuff happens - but this is completely AVOIDABLE!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
Every up again
December 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
@Brian Steere: When this is a source of income, yes, it’s okay to get peeved when your cash flow stops.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
Triton is up
December 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm!
Meditation does wonders!
Breathe in… breathe out…. breathe…..
The servers will be up and running in time… stressing about it isn’t going to help it to come up any quicker. So, sit back and enjoy life. Smell the roses. Have a cup of Joe. Call a family member, and wish them Happy Holidays. Use this moment in your life wisely.
ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
well considering I just launched our sites first email campaign today and it’s getting screwed by your code I’m a little more than incensed. It’s the biggest time of the year for us to get new clients and for this happen sucks.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
sites back live now.. phew..
December 20th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
Of the 3 sites I have hosted here only one is down, yes it is the most important of course, ftp and mail access still up. Sites hosted on kirby.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
It’s really quite funny. I was just telling my boss that Dreamhost is hardly ever down, but tends to go down at exactly the wrong moment. So no sooner did I start the transfer of the website over to Dreamhost… heh. Lovely.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
All our sites are still down. I sure wish that DH would actually properly test any code that they push out to the live servers before doing so. It’s this kind of problems that costs us money through lost business revenues. Every 10 minutes that our websites are down loses us customers, they up and go elsewhere thinking that we are no longer in business and give their business to our competitors.
They really need to be more reliable than this, we’ve been sticking with them on promises that it will improve but with times like this, those promises mean very little.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
We are done. But we have total confidence on the Dreamhost team! We have been we Dreamhost for more than a year now and you love you guys. You’re the best. Over the year the down time has been very low. With dreamHost you not only get what you pay for. You get allot more!
Happy Holydays.
Thank you
Jacques

@tanya: multiple sites on cheap hosting + email campain+russian nickname= hummmm
December 20th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
Maybe a schedule of when you plan on trying something completely new and untested so that when business launch campaigns we can avoid the “hey let’s try this day”. UGGGGGHHHHHHH
December 20th, 2007 at 12:54 pm
Laura G: DH Is hardly ever down??? I have not had a less reliable domain host. It seems some bit of functionality or another goes down monthly.
-micha
December 20th, 2007 at 12:54 pm
Wow!
let it so! my site is going faster than ever! Don’t touch nothing!
Well… I’m sorry about the sites that are down, but mine is going really good. Thanks!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:56 pm
my site is still down!! for an Hour!!!
December 20th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
No idea why you’re all complaining. Wasn’t down for *that* long. These things happen. You’ll be hard put to find another host with the same features, and staff support that Dreamhost provides.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Still down over here.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Hiball is “down”- when you ping it, you keep getting flooded with packets in return.

December 20th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Both http://www.system7today.com and http://www.info-mac.org are up and running again for me. Thanks for the quick resolution of the problem!
I have a question though… I noticed that during the downtime, http://www.danpalka.net did NOT go down for me at all. Nor did http://forums.system7today.com, which is a subdirectory of another site that did go down.
Isn’t that weird? Why would that be?
December 20th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
All my sites are down. Lucky, X’mas internet shopping time almost over. It not, it will very costly.
Why is dreamhost do such thing in the middle of day.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:05 pm
My sites are back — 45 minute outtage, but I only check every 15 minutes.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
And why now during the holiday shopping season?
December 20th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
You know this type of thing really should be done after hours (most dreamhosters are US based). Does DreamHost give any time of downtime credit?
December 20th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
December 20th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
Down for 10 minutes. Now all my websites are up and running. Thanks!
December 20th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
Phew, all my sites are backu up again.
And remember Dreamhost admins: If code doesn’t run you shouldn’t push it
December 20th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
In Soviet Russia, customers burn YOU!
December 20th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
I love you, Dreamhost. Merry Christmas! =]
December 20th, 2007 at 1:13 pm
anyone else still down and getting frustrated?
December 20th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
“No idea why you’re all complaining. Wasn’t down for *that* long. These things happen. You’ll be hard put to find another host with the same features, and staff support that Dreamhost provides.”

ну достали, чесслово мужики! НУ ВОСТАНОВИТЕ МОЙ ФОРУМ!!!!
December 20th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Cayman still down. Actually got “banned” for stating that earlier, so had to use a proxy to post this message.
Not that I am complaining. Posting the downtime statistics of Dreamhost SHOULD get your ip banned!
December 20th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Yeah, it WAS down for *that* long but now it’s back up, hopefully it will stay up the rest of the shopping season.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
No, it should be public knowledge what their *real* downtime is.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:20 pm
One of my sites is still down, so I’m not sure why they say the issue is “resolved.”
December 20th, 2007 at 1:20 pm
What ever happened to redundancy and Test labs!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 20th, 2007 at 1:22 pm
For those of you bitching about having client websites and you looking bad; get a dedicated server for the love of God. If you’re hosting client websites you’d better be ready for any and all things that could possibly happen.
How in the hell is DH supposed to know that you’re running a shitty business with your cheap-ass hosting?
Shut the hell up already.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Не ЭТО уже хамство!! Когда заработает форум 3ppc.net ?
December 20th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
@Daniel
Everyone knows you don’t run system wide server patches in the middle of the day. That shit should be done at 4 or 5 AM ET. Any respectable shop would fire the idiot IT person that did it, no questions asked and move on. It is not like this is the first time this has happened.
So there is reason to complain. I am sure even a high school kid with his vanilla debian install running his porn sharing site for friends would know better then to run patches on a mission critical component like apache on during peak hours.
…and we expect a little more from a web host.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
“Here come the obligatory posts.

@#3: so, “I’ve been with you for 10 years. Why don’t you just 10″? wtf? that doesn’t make sense
December 20th, 2007 at 1:53 pm
micha: compared to every other host I’ve been on, most of which cost a lot more money, Dreamhost is hardly ever down. Bits go down all the time in big systems, at least with Dreamhost I hear about them.
December 20th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
still down…despite email response to ticket that says back up
December 20th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
It’s a well documented fact that Josh Jones eats babies.
December 20th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
now I look like (I mean am) an idiot - I post here and ten seconds later all is working - thanks guys
December 20th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
Still Down Says:
December 20th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
REMEMBER this is a world wide host.. I think if they ran a patch at any time of the day it would affect people. Actually thinking about it. Isnt the web a 24/7 thing?
December 20th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
@jase
If you are going to argue that for some reason this US based hosts peak traffic hours are at 4-5 AM ET…well…..
HAHAHAHA!
Nice try but, FAIL.
Sure they are worldwide, but I am willing to bet 95% of the traffic going to these sites as a whole is North American/South American (ET-PT) based. Why in the world would a site that catered to people in Osaka want the latency involved with having a server half way around the world? I think they would go with a Pacific rim based host…
December 20th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
At least one list server is still dead, folks!
December 20th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
Laura G: I’m running a charity’s web site, so we too are here because of the price. But monthly downage is far from what we were getting from our previous 2 hosts. We’ve been up since the early 90s, which I feel gives me a decent baseline to compare against.
On another note: lists.aishdas.org is still down. And we’re email list based far more than web. So I look at the happy posts now coming from everyone else with envy.
-micha

You obviously don’t have any idea what is reasonable to “expect” if you can use the words “mission critical” in a sentence discussing a $10.00 a month low-cost shared-hosting service.
December 20th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
all my sites are still down… so annoying because this happens so much with dreamhost….
December 20th, 2007 at 6:04 pm
You gotta be shittin’ me. The one day in 6 months I decide to drink beer and work on my website. Was working for about an hour and now it’s down again.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:05 pm
Not sure if it’s related to this, but all of my websites just went down.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:06 pm
Please changed the ‘Resolved’ flag to ‘No’. My sites are all down as well. This outage has clearly not been resolved
December 20th, 2007 at 6:06 pm
My websites either. I submitted a support query to Dreamhost.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
No doubt they’ll be getting hundreds of them.
It’s sad to know that the DreamHost status blog gets more comments than my personal website.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
My sites are currently down, too. Let’s hope this will be resolved soon.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
Still having problems…
December 20th, 2007 at 6:11 pm
We just went down in the past few minutes - yikes.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:12 pm
Btw, I’m on cutlass.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:12 pm
I so cannot wait till January when I have the money to move my site. Lord forbid I say anything bad about Dreamhost though or all the fanboys will come running to their defense.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:13 pm
They’re pretty good to be honest, and the price is very decent. Only really had two or three occurances of downtime since I started hosting with them.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
We switched less than three weeks ago and this is the second outage. Maybe we’re just unlucky.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:15 pm
anyone on continental? seems to be down as well, assuming it is related to this issue.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:17 pm
still down =(
December 20th, 2007 at 6:17 pm

December 20th, 2007 at 6:30 pm
Marked as resolved, but all my sites are still down.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:34 pm
I’m disappointed in the accuracy of the status blog.
It suggests that everything has been resolved when clearly it has not. I’m sure they’re working on it, but the status blog needs to indicate so. Whether or not it’s intentional, it is misleading and appears as if they’re minimizing a major issue.
I guess I’m a little disappointed and needed to vent.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:38 pm
My sites are still down too.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:39 pm
I agree with the previous. It is nice to have the blog to check thinks, but if it is not going to be accurate then it is pretty much a waste.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
my sites just went down as of 6:20pm..will they be back up soon. I’m working on a deadline.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
My sites are down too. Guess I’ll go about other things till they’re up.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:45 pm
My site just went down about 10 minutes ago… did something else break now?
December 20th, 2007 at 6:47 pm
Here’s another vote for more accurate updates. Several of my sites are still affected, apparently on one specific apache instance.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
one of my domain went down too i hope it will solved soon
December 20th, 2007 at 6:52 pm
Here’s the funny thing though …
My main site is down, but my sub-domains are fine. What the hell is that?!
The F5 finger dance is getting old. I guess it’s book-time. Back to Ed Abbey in Arches.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:52 pm
I’m back up! yea! thanks!
December 20th, 2007 at 6:57 pm
I’m running the Reno Democratic Party site. We caucus in 29 days. We have people all over the world looking at the site and our process. We have 800 volunteers alone looking at the site daily for news and updates. To be down is to lose votes.
I migrated the site to DH this month with promises of better service. The site never went down once or was inaacessible the entire two years of previous hosting.
A huge blast went out right at the time we went down. We’ve been down for hours.
WHY WASN’T DH ABLE TO INSTANTLY RESTORE?
Anyone more dependable I can migrate to. I’ve been with DH since ‘99, but this happens too often and I lose clients.

Still Down Says:
December 20th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
meh, I know a few Americans think they are the world. The rest of us have learnt to live with your stupidity.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:19 pm
Was a bummer, but this site did its job.
Kind of a bummer they said resolved when mine and others sites were still down, but I think it is understandable since the sheer volume of servers that needed attention to fix the issue and they had determined the cause.
I work in IT and those things happen every now and then. (never accidentally overwrite the partition table of a 2TB LUN that houses all your VM’s. Remember to unpresent LUNS on servers you are imaging ;))
Still love DH and these issues do get resolved.
Shared hosting is pretty much you get what you pay for, but I really feel I get more than I pay for from these guys.
Hiccups happen, but it is all good.
Thanks DH for getting this resolved.
December 21st, 2007 at 12:49 am
All site is down
Bye
December 21st, 2007 at 1:03 am
All of our sites are down as well, seems like brandine is down and my web services are not responding… my Account Tests are all coming back red. This has been the first time I’ve been disappointed with the quickness of support response, I hope this gets resolved before my daily traffic starts to hit. *sigh*
December 21st, 2007 at 1:15 am

December 21st, 2007 at 6:36 am

December 21st, 2007 at 7:23 am
Didn’t notice a thing. Sweet. Oh and I hate when that happens, apache stopping working.
December 21st, 2007 at 7:25 am
Apache back to normal - thanks.
December 21st, 2007 at 8:20 am
Still having intermittent SVN outages on Dec 21
December 21st, 2007 at 8:33 am
I hope this is fixed because I have 10 spambots that visit my site. No one else visits it, so if the spam bots leave, I will have no one! I don’t want them to get discouraged by the site being down!
December 21st, 2007 at 8:41 am
We also are ‘up but slow.’ Time for another ticket …
December 21st, 2007 at 10:26 am
*chuckle* Nice work DH. Ever thought of using a testing environment before pushing code onto a live critical server environment? Unreal.
December 21st, 2007 at 10:29 am
WooHoo almost missed this one:
“Wm Leslie Howard Says: I’m running the Reno Democratic Party site. We caucus in 29 days. We have people all over the world looking at the site and our process. We have 800 volunteers alone looking at the site daily for news and updates. To be down is to lose votes.”
Now THERE’S a good reason to take the server offline! Push out some more of that raw code DH! Good work, LOL!

WTF?
My blog is in there! What’s happening?
December 21st, 2007 at 3:58 pm
I’m down. I guess I chose the right name for my site. http://www.yourekillingmyserver.com
December 21st, 2007 at 4:00 pm
My critical MEDICAL website is still down. I run a medical practice of 40 physicians - anesthesiologists!!! Surgeons can’t do surgery without my docs and my docs can’t be there, unless they can log on to the website and get their schedules! This is insane, and completely unprofessional. This entire year with Dreamhost has been a nightmare. Frequent outages, downtime is WAY too long and slow responses when the site is up. Do you people not get it that you’re losing business? I will never refer a company to your hosting site. It’s not reliable. What’s going on?
December 21st, 2007 at 5:18 pm
All my sites are down on neisbitt. And to some posting hear, I would get a grip. If you are on the $9.95 hosting plan (or less) and you have a critical business or PEOPLE’S LIVES RELY ON YOU what the hell are you doing on a discounted hosting site? Shell out an extra $20 to $1000 dollars and get better up time or get a dedicated server. Geeezzzz WTF?
December 21st, 2007 at 5:19 pm
My website is still down (8:18PM EST on December 21) — I really need it up asap for some VCs were supposed to look at the prototype!
December 21st, 2007 at 6:03 pm
Uhh doesn’t matter if you’re on a discounted host, they should have uptime more often than this regardless. 9.95 is premium by any stretch of imagination. In my experience Go daddy isn’t this bad in terms of downtime and they cost alot less. 9.95 is a fair amount to be given this crap. The only reason I’m sticking around still is that I’ve been with these guys for 1 year, the first half hasn’t been bad. It’s just recently things have just been mental. I will hand it to dreamhost for their fast response time…now just to get my site up..
I work for a hosting company and we don’t have NEARLY as much downtime yet our plans are half the prices here.
It’s not about the prices, it’s about how much hosts will charge you than how much they will spend to not overload their servers….Do the math
December 21st, 2007 at 6:25 pm
We have been down all day today and most of yesterday. This is ridiculous. There is no way in the hell I’ll be running any of my upcoming sites I have plans on with dreamhost.
December 21st, 2007 at 6:34 pm
Yep both of my sites still down.

wtf dh?
December 21st, 2007 at 8:27 pm
SITE IS STILL DOWN…..
December 21st, 2007 at 10:10 pm
MDAPC Says “This is insane, and completely unprofessional.” and other horseshit.
I say:
What is insane and completely unprofessional is having a truly critical website on any sort of “bargain” host. I mean, you have a website that you claim has people’s medical operations dependent on it, hosted on a host with a blog like DH’s, and who’s site has all kinds of silly pictures and shit on it.
Congratulations on having attained A1 Dipshit status!
December 22nd, 2007 at 3:53 am
support has been fast and helpful, but uptime… is another story. for a company as big as dreamhost and for the prices paid, i would assume that there would be some sort of backups in place to make sure sites are always up.
to be honest, i’m considering paying for two plans at two separate companies for the same total price it costs here at dreamhost. the combined support may not be as good, but i’m sure the uptime will.
December 22nd, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Is “DNS A Record” broken?
“Non-editable DreamHost DNS” shows “64.111.98.119″ as “A record”.
But NSLookup shows “210.157.1.189″ as A record.
What happened?
December 22nd, 2007 at 2:53 pm
My site is working, thank you!
December 22nd, 2007 at 4:44 pm
“MDAPC Says: My critical MEDICAL website is still down. I run a medical practice of 40 physicians - anesthesiologists!!! This is one case where I am comfortable to say: you freaking tight-ass idiot, hosting something as critical as that on an unreliable host to save, what, $10 or $20 a month? For a start, you can write it off as operation expenses, and secondly, for a site so important, how irresponsible can you get to host it at DH?? Thanks for the link - I’ll be sure to stay the hell away from your practice - if you’re such a tight-ass as to host on DH, then I hate to think what kind of substandard treatment one would get at your practice for the sake of saving, literally, a couple of dollars.
December 22nd, 2007 at 4:51 pm
who needs support when your uptime is good? Seriously some people have personal blogs they are paying for (NOT discount prices either mind you) and specially during the christmas season we’d like to update our relatives overseas. Regardless of how critical or non critical the purpose of your site is should not matter one bit. If you pay for a service you should receive minimum uptime of at least 80%. At the moment…20% for my site.
I’m changing host..
December 22nd, 2007 at 5:03 pm
I am still having issues my site wont show up?
December 22nd, 2007 at 7:17 pm
server can’t be found…. this is nice.
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:28 am
none of my sites are running
December 23rd, 2007 at 12:52 pm
I believe DH represents a true bargain. I AM concerned, however, about 3 outages in 3 days–12/20 for about an hour; 12/21-22 for about 5 hours; and 12/22 again, for about an hour. This after the long planned outage for moving servers to improve service.
December 26th, 2007 at 5:47 am
Make that 4 outages in four days.
December 26th, 2007 at 3:55 pm
My photography site, which USED TO download quickly is now sssslllloowwww as hell. This SUCKS. So…where’s the ‘improved service’?
