One-Click Upgrades: phpBB, phpGedView, dotProject
We’ve got a bit of an early Christmas (or late Chanukah) present for those of you running the above mentioned bits of web based software. In an afternoon flurry of productivity, phpBB has been upgraded to version 3.0 [Release Notes], phpGedView was bumped up to version 4.1.3 [Release Notes] and dotProject is now at version 2.1.1 [Release Notes].
If you weren’t already familiar with how to do so, you can upgrade your One-Click Installs by logging in to panel.dreamhost.com and going to the One-Click Installs page under the Goodies tab. If you happen to hit any snags in doing so, our support staff is standing by ready to help you out.
Happy upgrading, everybody!
Update: Apparently phpBB 3.0 is a pretty radical upgrade and requires a little more than our installer is configured for currently. Sorry about that! A few people have had issues with the upgrade, so we’ve gone ahead and rolled the current version on the installer back to 2.0.22. Sadly, the 3.0 upgrade will have to be pushed back until some of our more seasoned vets can figure out a proper plan of action on how to handle it safely.

Smokin’! great work guys… this is why I like dreamhost.
I have some sites in other webhosts who NEVER update their one click installs so news like this one are very nice every once in a while
… not to mention it’s nice to see that posts like this one don’t get flooded with those d**ks bitching and moaning because they get 2 seconds of downtime
cheers, and keep up the good work
Happy holidays!

Aikora - the machine seems to be alive as it does respond to SSH logins. I assume you’ve talked to support, have you tried temporarily replacing your index page with a simple file?

I’m in contact with support, yes, all the day. And i cannot acces via FTP even.

It’s good to see DH is on top of updating their installs. It’d be great if they’d add SMF and ZenPhoto to their list of available one-click installs, though!
December 22nd, 2007 at 2:52 pm
I find FTP can’t access now.
December 22nd, 2007 at 2:53 pm
Woot! Thank you!

@duploa - The site you linked isn’t even hosted at dreamhost - can’t help without it.

FYI: phpBB 3.0 upgrade (from 2.0.22) is broken. Tech support promises to post a new status alert soon. I was able to easily restore the “forums.old” backup copy with no issue.

December 22nd, 2007 at 4:48 pm
@ why
You know what? My site works fine a couple of hours but at this time it’s down again. This is unbelievable.
Oh yeah, and good work with the “one click” upgrades, i don’t use them but… whatever…
December 22nd, 2007 at 4:51 pm

I also experienced the PHPBB3 glitch, so I did a fresh install in a subdomain, then imported my old data. Works fine. Then I renamed my subdomain folder to be my main domain folder and updated any references to the subdomain. Hopefully the One-Click robot won’t notice the difference.
December 22nd, 2007 at 5:42 pm
The phpBB3 update is pretty easy to install yourself. I did 2 forums with no problems.
December 22nd, 2007 at 8:43 pm
@dupola - cool, the dns entries looked awful funny, that’s why I questioned if you were pointing at a dh server. (There are some people that swoop in to shill for other hosting, the lunarpages ad was a bit “distracting”)

Bummer the BB isn’t working. I’ll just manually handle it I suppose.

I was waiting for one click upgrades. Too bad about phpBB.
