Janky File-server issues

We are having problems with one of our file-servers which is effecting servers in the ‘janky’ cluster and is effecting both web and mail services. Our admins are aware of the issue and working on getting it resolved ASAP.
Update 09:00 AM Pacific: It seems the motherboard in the file server went out, or something very closely related to it. The power supplies would come out of standby, try to power on the system, and it would shutoff after a few seconds. We swapped it out and are back in action! Please let us know if you are still having problems by submitting a support ticket.

I have sites on thetis, calypso and hestia, so I’m triple screwed. It’s been an hour and 25 minutes now and counting. You’d think they could have swapped out the offending hardware, by now …

I have read the post from the outset, well, nothing happens, these guys dreamhost are excellent professionals, but now that puts “Resolved” not load the page, at least here in Europe.
Could it by the name servers?

Man I tried to change user at my site in admin cp and kept getting white page but everything else worked. Now I can get main page but white screen if I click on anything. Glad it wasnt me! lol.

well, at least I’m not handling anything critical right now… it’s only a shame things are down and I really hope this gets resolved real quick. I’d still like to have my forum and news up and running. guess we’ll just have to wait. cross your fingers.

I have on pegasus an Intranet that administrate the sell of tickets for a new year party. My client is desperate.

Can we get an update on how this is affecting our visitors? Obviously the visitors are getting timed out messages when trying to view the site, but what about our email? Is it being bounced or what? I am on calypso and janky email.
My poor CS department is getting flooded with calls.
Yay.

But if I was earning $100 + A day with my sites, well I’d probabbly invest a bit more in my servers.
Put in a ticket, cannot log into my site. Sometimes I get main page but get site not found when I log in or I get server not found and no main page

If you earn $100+ a day with your site, you earn like $3000 a month. Your hosting at dreamhost probarly for $8 p/m. Well. As ‘Just Visiting’ says. Invest a bit more into your servers. Take a premium for example, mostly $12 p/m for just 250 MB, but they are guaranteed 95% up. I got one myself, in the 4 years, no prob. The dreamhost I got, is a non commercial.
I make 10 million dollars a minute from my site. You guys are killing me! … lol … be serious people…

Ravi: If your site makes $400 a day, why not pay for a better host? dedicated server more uptime etc. DH is extremely cheap.
my site is not earning me any money, but I want it up. is that too much to ask for?
they pretty much don’t care about their users anyways our site is down at least as much at its up.

My site went down just after I finished uploading all my pictures and videos of the new baby. Of course it happened after I sent a blast email out to every single person I know saying, “check out pictures of the new baby -> here”
My server isn’t one of the ones listed but apparently suffering from a similar problem.
