Sobe not so refreshing…
Sobe appears to have some bad memory, and the admins are working on getting it failed over right now. This will not affect anyone who is not on the Sobe web server. This should be taken care of within the hour. If you are not on Sobe and are having issues, please see other status posts, and if necessary, contact support!
Update: The move hasn’t been smooth, so one of our admins is currently dedicating her full attention to Sobe. Again, this particular post does not apply to anything that is NOT Sobe. To find out if your server is Sobe, head on over to https://panel.dreamhost.com/ , and in the upper right, click “account status”. If the field, “Your Web Server”, says anything but “Sobe”, this post doesn’t apply.
This should be resolved. Nothing to see here. If you are still having problems, please contact support.

I’m not sure if this is affecting my servers or not, but all of my websites are up, but I have no email whatsoever from the randy email server. I’ve sent 2 tickets in the last 6 hours and still have not heard anything back. Is anyone else having email only problems?

This is issue is NOT resolved. I’m now getting this memory related error when trying to access my (Sobe hosted) website:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 40961 bytes)
January 8th, 2008 at 7:40 am

January 8th, 2008 at 8:44 am
H: Same here.. I get the EXACT same message when loading my front page or WP-Admin.
I reported the issue barely 5 minutes after the service came up, so I’m sure they are aware of it.

January 8th, 2008 at 11:37 am
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought –
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
“And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!’
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
January 8th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Whether ’twas brillig, or not - our website has been down for several days. I requested an update which generated an email:
We were unable to verify any server-wide problem related to
the outage you’re experiencing. If you submitted a support
ticket, we will be with you soon to help resolve this issue.
However, the support page only allows me to proceed through steps three of five in submitting a “ticket.” Step four is a blank screen with a header.
Frustrating!

January 9th, 2008 at 12:06 am
what’s going on with security at DH??? This site (http://turk-h.org/root) is posting domains that they have hacked on their site. 80% of these domains hacked are hosted at Dreamhost. Does DH take web security serious?
January 9th, 2008 at 6:05 am
@WORSTHOSTEVER - If you’d stop using that Apple ][ you’d be able to have upper and lower case.
January 9th, 2008 at 7:57 am
Our DNS A records point to 208.113.255.39 which is currently errornous. As a result all of my domains are experiencing “h
http 500 internal server errors” can you look into this as a priority please
January 9th, 2008 at 8:13 am
To Alan Tallis: I would just like to take this time to remind you of the nice, bold, large words that appear at the top of this site when you load it:
If you are experiencing a problem not reported here, check our web panel for more information.
(Please remember, posting in the comments here IS NOT an official way to contact DreamHost.)
And also may I point out the nice little line under “Leave a Reply”:
“Comments posted here may not be viewed by DreamHost staff at all. This is not a way to contact DreamHost.”

Dreamhost has suddenly handicapped the ability to report problems and my site has been down all day, so here i am posting on their freaking blog. The only way i was able to submit a description of the issue was reply to an old help ticket by email. I also faxed them at their fax number that you’re not supposed to fax support requests to.
Cmon, at least tell me something for christ’s sake!
January 9th, 2008 at 11:06 am
@Tim K -”Dreamhost has suddenly handicapped the ability to report problems …”
What are you blathering about? Are you trying to say you cannot use the Control Panel?
@Tim K -”The only way i was able to submit a description of the issue was reply to an old help ticket by email. I also faxed them at their fax number that you’re not supposed to fax support requests to.”
Well, there’s a way that “works” (reply to an old ticket), and a way that proves you can’t follow instructions (the fax) - one of the two is more likely to get a response than the other; I’ll leave figuring out which is which as an exercise for you.
@Tim K -”Cmon, at least tell me something for christ’s sake!”
Ok …. nah, that would be “mean” and be kinda like “kicking a guy when he’s down … I know! Try this: Use the Contact Form at http://dreamhost.com/contact.cgi if you can’t use the control panel to submit a ticket.
January 9th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I can’t access my website via ftp or browser. I can see content in my website’s root. Please, I’ve got to present a work to a client right NOW! The files doesn’t appearm just the list.

January 9th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
I’m running WordPress on all my domains, but I didn’t notice a spam attack of such. Actually, was in the process of banning a shitload of spammer IP addresses when the damn thing went down… this is bullshit.
January 10th, 2008 at 12:11 am
I get it - you can’t request support here: but the panel is down too - so I’m not so sure just how that’s supposed to work…
ALL SITES ARE DOWN …. please help.
(How come this ALWAYS happens when I’m in the middle of DOING stuff???)
January 10th, 2008 at 12:19 am
Coz your lucky.
My 3 sites are down, as well as my friends 4.
I am on orbital.
The “Submiting your Ticket” has been revolving for about 20 min now.
Something MIGHT be up.
But dreamhost rock, never been down for to long.
January 10th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Looks like Dreamhost is having network issues again.
All of my sites were inaccessible for a while, but now at least they seem to have reappeared.
January 10th, 2008 at 4:14 am
Some of my site is down, and I’ve been unable to submit a ticket. (Select problem type at step 1 of 5, hit next, and the whole form resets, cannot get past that page)
Unable to contact Dreamhost for support in any way, there needs to be a second method to contact support!!
January 10th, 2008 at 4:25 am
Yeh, everythings been back up for me for a while now. (Orbital Server)
January 10th, 2008 at 4:36 am
Nick, I know there needs to be a second support… they need to spend alittle bit of money and give us an automated phone support with a full knowledge base for common questions to refer you to the wiki, then if your problem is actually serious then they connect you to one of the few customer support reps.
January 10th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Hmmm, ty for.
