Mysql server deputydawg going down for hardware replacement

The mysql server deputydawg is having some problems with its raid array, and needs to be replaced. There has been no data loss. This should take about thirty minutes, during which time any databases hosted on it will be inaccessible.

Updated 2:44pm, this is done, deputydawg is on new hardware and serving its databases.

    Dear dreamhost,

    I love you.

My websites have not been down for too long time. Everything runs smoothly. There has not been any outage for ages and ages. All runs fine. I have nothing to complain.

    Something must be wrong.

    With kisses

Sites have slowed to a crawl and often timing out. Not just mine, but a few other I know are hosted at DH.

Not only that, the panel isn’t loading, is this a widespread DH outage? Or just people cutting undersea cables again?

    :)

    DC Says:

Dunno how widespread, but my sites just went kablooey too. What’s up?!

My panel doesn’t seem to be working. Ironic, since I can’t actually let anyone know there’s a problem with it because…well it’s not working. ;) So no FTP. But my site appears to be up.

    BAH. Mine too.

All DH-sites are down/severely disconnected from my point of view. Panel doesn’t work, pings get 80-90% packetloss, SSH, HTTP and FTP-connections transfer at sub 1kbps speeds, if at all. Can’t even login to panel to file a support ticket. This is really not cool.

    Jenn Says:

Not only are sites painfully slow or inaccessible, but I can’t load the DreamHost panel to open a support ticket. Static sites seem slightly better off than MySQL driven sites, but that’s not saying much.

Unlike some of the usual haters around here, I actually like DreamHost in terms of bang for the buck, but I am starting to get a little frustrated with their communication efforts. I’d happily have my sites take 5 minutes longer to restore if only they’d spend that 5 minutes posting to this blog about what the problem is and how long down time is expected to last.

I like dreamhost too, but it’s not like this could go unnoticed to them for this long. Where’s the status update?

    N Says:

Ditto, everything seems kerblooey right now–my sites, trying to login to panel, etc.

    Craig Says:

I’ve just managed to submit a ticket.

PLEASE don’t submit any more, I’ve said that it’s affecting a lot of people, they don’t need to respond to the same message a thousand times. Just let them do the job of fixing it now! :)

My sites seem to be suffering badly too. One site using postnuke and obviously mysql (tech-rant.com) works; although really, really slowly. The other a wordpress blog, with mysql again, which uses caching (linked in my name) does not seem to load at all. I don’t even get the title to load.

Please sort this out soon guys!

I’m also experiencing severe slowness. My site loads like its hosted on a toaster.

Dreamhost has extreme difficulties loading and I’m still unable to login to the web panel to even tell dreamhost about this.

I sure hope one of them stumbles in here… :’(

seems the performance-difference between different severs is big, but even the servers that are performing well, compared to others, are doing an abysmall job. lifesaver, for instance, “works”, whereas lenny doesn’t, at all.

Awesome guys, everything just died. Friday, end of the financial month at 5 pm. Can you maybe let everything shit the bed on a sunday from now on? I cant get into e-mails, cant fix some FTP permissions issues with important hosted files. Cant close out my damn month for my business. Thanks for the warning and thanks for being on the ball. NOT! Have your crack head intern plug the cord back in that he tripped over asap so I can get stuff done and start my weekend. grrrrr……

    Damn HTML cutting in.

Well in less than 10 mins support got back to me:

Thank you for writing in to DreamHost support.

I dearly apologize about the downtime and slow loading that you recently
experienced. Unfortunately it seems like there were network issues going
on that were preventing you from viewing your sites and accessing data via
FTP. Everything is now online, but if you continue to experience any
issues just let me know directly,

    Thanks DH! :D
