A Fistful Of One-Click Upgrades
After taking way longer than we should have to get these out of the way, we’re happy to announce the following one-click upgrades as available in our One-Click Installer:
- ZenCart 1.3.8
- Pligg 9.9.0
- Moodle 1.9
- Joomla 1.5.1
- MediaWiki 1.12.0
If you are running previous versions of any of this software on your sites, please consider taking a few minutes and running the upgrader. It doesn’t take very long to do and staying on top of available upgrades is the best way to make sure your site stays stable and secure.
As usual, if you notice any errors caused by the One-Click Installer, you can let us know by creating a new ticket with DreamHost Support.
Happy upgrading!
P.S. There will also be an upgrade to WordPress as soon as version 2.5 becomes available in about a week or so. Currently it’s testing and getting a few final touches put into place — but I thought it was worth mentioning as there will be some big changes with the admin interface, themes and plugins. To make sure your WordPress based site is ready, you should give this handy rundown by Lorelle VanFossen a once over. That should help cut down on any snags that might be caused by the upgrade.
P.P.S. If you are on Twitter, you might want to consider following dhstatus so you can get DreamHost Status blog updates via SMS, Jabber or AIM.

Frankly speaking, what is the use to have One Click installs upgrades if your website is down in the last four days?
It is frustrating.

@BillHost: If you have an issue with your site, the best thing you can do is write in to support. Complaining in the comments of a blog entry won’t do you much good. We’re here to help — and we want to make sure your site stays up.

Hello Jason! That’s what I did, first thing. The support team was responsive and willing to help. However, they could not make my sites set to go again. My ticket was moved to some sort of second tier support team and so far I’m waiting. It has been 41 hours since this last interaction.
I hope easter comes with my websites on-line, my customers will not cope with the applications down on Monday.

@BillHost: If I knew what your site was, I could look into what was going on with that ticket and nudge the person whose queue it was dropped into.

Hello Jason,
This is really good Jason, but I think the support team just read us. I received a feedback on that ticket. I will let you know the outcome.
Thanks a lot for this.

Any hope of getting ZenPhoto in ‘advanced’ mode? I’d really like to have ‘full control’, even if it means installation and maintenance are more involved. I’m a big boy, I can handle it *grin*. I’d just upload the files and do a full manual, but I _like_ the one-click upgrades. Easier for me, more secure for everyone. And I figure if you’ve already done half the work of making it an ‘easy mode’ install, the ‘advanced’ should be a reasonable request, eh?

@Chad: The easy and advanced installers actually run a bit differently, so it’s not as easy as one might think. Still, the easy installer is allowing us to evaluate Zenphoto and make sure it’s something we want to put on the advanced installer. So far, it’s looking like a very distinct possibility — but I can’t make any promises.

@Chad: There’s always the option of manually installing ZenPhoto. It’s a bit more effort, but it makes for a great learning experience, too.

Well at least there some good news on the status reporting side. I’d hate to be doing customer support for the last week.

Ya nice to see some good news on the site. The tech folks must be pulling some major OT right now.
