Janky Cluster Filer Problems

We’ve been working on an issue with the Drooler file server which is in the Janky cluster. We were able to correct some initial problems we saw that was causing problems such as high load, slow email, slow websites, sites timing out, and email connectivity issues. Some of you might have received an email saying the problem was fixed, and it was, however the symptoms have returned. We have our Admin Team currently working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Once this issue is corrected we’ll update this post with more information.

Servers that can be affected from this are listed below:

Update: Drooler is back up, and we will be monitoring the situation closely in case any further problems arise.

Update 4/8/08 4pm : We have added a new file server a couple of days ago and have another one on order. We continue spreading user data across the existing file servers, and are looking into possible user issue that are causing the servers to be unstable. Sorry about the inconvenience.

    This doesn’t seem to be resolved. I still can’t get to my website or commit to my svn repo. Dreamhost had been doing better for a while, there…this has got me regretting my choice again…

    My site is 100% down. I am extremely upset as this is Saturday morning and a big day for my site. This is completely unacceptable! I think that this should NEVER happen. I an very dissapointed that I chose you as my server.

    This issue has not been resolved. Our mail clients are unable to access mail via any means. Please resolve ASAP! We’ve been with you for less than a month now, and have had 3 days containing downtime for our email. BAD SERVICE!

    Just moved a client to dreamhost last night. Email servers have been down ever since DNS points to them. Very embarrassing and stressful, as my clients now have no email for their business on Monday morning.

    They used to have live chat support, but apparently that is gone now. The only option I see is to pay $10 for someone to call me back. I sent a support request and waited 2 hours with no response. I’m afraid I can’t recommend DH for my clients anymore if they don’t have reliable tech support.

    I love that DH is making me look like an idiot.

    It would be outstanding if there were less excuses and more results. Six months to resolve a high utilization issue is ludicrous. I’m sorry that the rest of you are having service that sucks too, but at least I know I’m not alone.

    I was very excited about using Dreamhost as I’d heard a lot of good things about it. I can’t believe they have always sucked this bad. Maybe they need to hire a competent technical staff? I’m glad I didn’t move my other 20 or so domains to this service.

    Uh oh - is that why I now cannot recieve my e-mail? And the customer support has been the complete *pits*. Obviously, if my e-mail is completely down, the support panel option is not going to work terribly well. Ugh.

    Maybe I will be permitted to work tomorrow? My clients will be very excited. . .

    You should rename janky cluster to JUNKY cluster.

    Sure would be nice if I could even log IN to my webmail account. Jesus Christ. Is your technical support staff manned by Curly, Larry, and Moe?

    Capacity issues do NOT happen overnight. An adequate (skilled, competent, or even marginally-observant) technical staff would have seen this problem coming long before it got this bad.

    Now I have to begin the process of moving my domain to another hosting service. It’s gonna suck, but it’s not gonna suck as hard as leaving it on Dreamhost.

    I`m on JAK. Can not use FTP at all, although it seems i can set permissions on files I can not overwrite/update them. Can`t work on the server till this is solved. My Schedue is majorly messed up… Thank you NightmareHost!

    This is the error I get when I login to Webmail….its been happening for over a week now. What in the world is going on. This is ridiculous.

    I jumped on the Dreamhost special about 5 months ago. Ever since then, there level of service has been worse than Bush in the last 6 years. All they do is irritate the shit out of me. I too am one who “recommended” dreamhost email services to my clients and my boss. How stupid do I look now? Go figure. These fools can never keep there shitty servers up and running. I see why in there application to be a ‘tech’ doesn’t require much. This place would be better off if it were run by monkeys with no arms. I find myself repeatedly contacting customer support for email related issues. Sometimes I’m so fed up, I don’t even want to contact them because all i get is a “Sorry for the inconvenience, we’re sitting at our desks jerking off, we’ll fix the issues when we get someone who knows what the fuck they’re doing to resolve the issue.”

    All in all, Dreamhost staff can jump off a cliff, and take there servers with them….

    DH buck up.. u have been here for more than 10 years now.. more than anything we should be able to trust you.. make DH world a “no downtime” world.. heck.. charge us more .. do whatever, deliver the best uptime, speed..

    but I trust you guys to get this resolved; all of my sites are also slow, timing out, images not loading up; sucks that this is happening; it’s been like this for a few weeks now; going on a month soon of Slow loading pages; (which isn’t good for customers….)

    It seems like not all of these servers problems going on. also i had problems with spyro. Or i dont know may be my hosts are somewhere else now.

    Come on DH. It’s been so long time we give you many chances to solve these problems. We have costumers also and we dont have a chance to say anything.

    Please get in touch with all of your customers having problems like me and tell us about your situations.

    Hope to see this problems are resolved. You are a big company and you have to act like.
