Webserver “Hupmobile” being moved to new hardware
The webserver hupmobile seems to have some bad memory so moving it to new hardware. Configs are already running and it should be backup in business completely within 30 minutes. Sorry for the downtime related to this webserver move.
– UPDATE Mon Apr 7 09:33:46 PDT 2008 –
All services are backup and running. If you notice further issues with hupmobile please contact support.

WTF? another site outage…?
I’m not even on this box… 1 out of 20 times I visit my site, it is DOWN

Re: I’m not even on this box
And yet you’re here whining anyway.
April 7th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
How do I know what box I am on?
April 7th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
If you don’t even know what server you’re on, how the hell are you even running a website?
April 7th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
It should say what server you’re on from your web panel.
I have to wonder how many of these people complaining are actually DH customers. Flame them all you want, but until I personally have a bad experience, I’m fine with DH. If you jump ship, well, then my site will run even faster.
I have had 0 outages for the three months I’ve hosted with them and only 1 time where my site has been slow, which was back in January when my account was first set up.

ya i agree Eric, Actually Dreamhost has the friendliest support there is for this price range. Also the the service is honest than any other that I have met.
April 7th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Exactly.
It’s a 30 minute downtime. Come on, it’s not the end of the world.
The only reason why people give DH shit is because they think it happens to DH more often. Wrong. These are all standard problems - I really don’t think BlueHost is magic, and HostGator has to deal with hardware problems too. It’s just that DH actually tells us what’s going on, where other hosts would just figure, “It’s a 30 minute downtime. If they send in support tickets we’ll just tell them it’s been resolved”.

I know of several hostingproviders in Western Europe who concistently report 99.99% uptime and they never report any downtime even though their servers go down a lot more often than 0.01%. DreamHost is simply honest about the status and this honesty should be appreciated. They don’t cover things up and they work hard and friendly around the clock and they are not expensive at all.

hupmobile? lol, where do you come up with the names to these servers? I suspect there is some whiskey involved when it comes time to come up with names
April 8th, 2008 at 6:22 am
Well where do you think the server “Bourbon” came from?

ALL MY SITES DOWN AGAIN !!!!!
4TH TIME IN 3 WEEKS!!!!!
My sites are down again. I’m not in Hupmobile or Blingy, I’m on Spunky. Dreamhost used to work well a year ago, but right now is the worst one of the 5 I work with (and not the cheapest, don’t dare to say you can’t expect more for that money)
I’m moving all my sites from Dreamhost to another hosting, I don’t want to say wich one just to not spamming Dreamhost Blog.
It is a real pity, as I said they used to work fine, but right now i wouldn’t recommend this host even to my worst enemy

April 8th, 2008 at 4:09 pm

#1 - You’re illiterate.

Felix/P Suave - Obviously you need to contact support as DH thought they had issues solved yesterday.
Were you aware that DH does not read these pages? Support requests really do need to be submitted through the panel ( http://panel.dreamhost.com ) if you want them to work on them. If you’d like to complain in public without making any obvious attempts to help yourself, this is the right place.
If you’re in desperate need to try to get things going again, you might try the discussion forums at http://discussion.dreamhost.com . There are some nice guys out there that are willing to try to help people that are nice solve problems. They do it for free in their spare time so be gentle with them. Another hint is be as detailed about your problems as you can. Note that “Down” is not specific enough to get ANY help. “I get error 500’s” or “everything’s a 404″ or “I can’t ping it” are all descriptions that they can help you with.

Nice to see the tech folks not killing themselves over this one.

#19 should be removed since it’s bot spam for a site that’s not even hosted here. Big shock - SEO in the title and it’s spam. How rare.
