Panel wouldn't have anything to do with your site being down.

My site won't even load, is this the reason? I can get in through SFTP but it's extreeeemeeely slow, I was getting pissed thinking it was the usual 'thats what you get for shared hosting' excuse, but I don't expect shared hosting to be this slow. What's weird is that they day before it was going faster than ever, then the day after (Yesterday) it just went sooo slow, my site won't even load anymore. Just wondering if this is the reason behind it if not to file a ticket. Thanks guys appreciate any response.

They already know immediately. They use it. Reporting panel problems is pointless.

4 hours does seem like a long time for them to notice a central portal of their site is down. Not just "sluggish" Dreamhost, but down or non-functional. Isn't there some kind of feedback to let you know immediately there's a problem? How about keeping an eye on this Status blog? When you start getting 30 irate messages, it's time to pay attention. In my job, if something goes wrong and I don't notice for 4 hours, somebody else surely does!

As another user mentioned, why isn't there a way to contact support from outside the Web Panel. My emails were all bounced back.

@brasscrest
Sounds like you have never had a job.
Even with all the testing that they do, DO. (Every company does quite rigorous testing and QA) bugs will occur, and the more complex and scaled something is the more bugs. Dreamhost is fricking huge. Most companies won't admit they made a mistake, but Dreamhost does.
