Looney Mail Issues
I apologize for the late post but I wanted to make sure that we had a resolution for you before posting here. Last week I saw complaints about slowness and timeouts. With some really excellent feedback from customers I was able to pinpoint when the issues were occurring and keep an eye on it and with the help of the admin team we determined that it was due to a file server that needed a bit of offloading. We had the hardware available to add 4 TB of space to the cluster and are installing that today so we just need to remove some data from the troublesome file server and all will be well. This is expected to be finished within the next 7 days so by then mail should be working properly again (it may even be sooner than that depending on the point at which it will return to normal). This should also give the cluster enough space to be fine for the next few years (this is an older cluster which grows slowly as no new customers are being added) so you guys are in great shape for a long time to come!

I know this is not the way to contact support. However, each other avenue has been a dead end. Your control panel contact is not working properly, and email submitted was sent back to me that you are in an emergency.
I simply want to xfer a domain name from one DH customer to another, and would really love to get this done today (both parties are available)… Any assistance is really appreciated.

Uh, use the panel!

Rick Roll you are awesome helper. And I would have done that if it would work, but xfr domain between DH customers must go thru support. And as my comment above already mentioned - control panel support not working… THANKS a BUNCH tho.

When the panel has a problem, they know it automatically. Reporting it is pointless and does nothing.

Thanks, Tank. That’s great to know.
Again, I find it silly to require support for XFR of domain between two DH customers, but that is what DH wants.
The question remains if I can’t reach them thru control panel, and these comments are not a valid way to reach them, and they are not answering email, how do I get support? Is there a phone number I don’t know about?

They have to do the customer-to-customer transfers because of promo code abuse. Otherwise, people would just keep opening new accounts to get the discount and transfer the domains over.
No phone, but http://www.dreamhost.com/contact.cgi is always accessible.

Tank - THANKS! The thing is not yet resolved, but this at least gives me some hope… thanks a bunch!
