Rock being moved to new hardware

Webserver rock is having trouble booting, so we’re going to be moving it to new hardware. This process should take about thirty minutes.

Update: this has been finished and all sites hosted on rock should be up and running, if you have one that’s not please contact support.

All my sites have been down for hours and as usual, nothing on the Emergency Status page about it! This is getting to be a common occurance, as well as the usual non-response from support. Is there anyone minding the store??

A filer for sanjay.dreamhost.com could not mount some directories. This made websites appear empty. Fixed @ 5:30 am.

Thanks Dreamhost - an important mailing I did is now coming through with no pictures at all, making us look like idiots after four months of work on the show it is about. And, cant ftp anything after being able to late last night. So obviously there is a problem that hasnt even been written about here.

Sigh. Shit happens in the IT world. It is as predictable as complete chaos. I bitched because my site went down. I may not be losing customers or whatnot but it’s fixed. What I’ve come to respect about DreamHost is the lack of automated response emails Ive recieved. I filed the problem to them and even though it took 4-5 days to get a response the tech told me “First off I would like to apologize for the late reply here. I have been working on getting you a final solution rather than attempting to tell you that we were working on this issue.” .. and it was fixed. It was actually fixed 2 days before that.

I forget what you call that. I think it’s called Honesty. Atleast they were honest with me. I’d rather that then some Indian prick who reads out of a book what his response to your question should be.

Hi all, my site has never been down in the 3 months I’ve been with DreamHost, but I do experience quite slow server speeds. Just my thoughts.
