Spunky Mail Downtime
Posted (June 10th, 2008 at 9:07 pm PST) by briansWe are currently experiencing an outage in the spunky cluster. This is affecting your ability to connect to the incoming / outgoing mailserver. Our Admins are currently working to resolve the issue. There aren’t any further details at this time. Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please check back here for future updates.
UPDATE 9:53 PM PDT: Everything has been resolved. The root cause was the result of an IP change on a few of the machines that handle mail delivery for your domain. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused and we truly appreciate your patience.

Well, thanks for the update, anyway. Hopefully this will be resolved soon and with little trouble.
oh noes, my mail!
btw, nobody sends me email, that shouldn’t be a problem…
Emailed you about this just before I checked the status page… will learn next time to check here first…
Thanks for the info (and email back) and getting onto the problem so quickly.
NOT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
FIX SPUNKY!!!!!!!!!!!
This monthly-dead-downtimes are a real pain in the ass.
More Spunky mail issues, damnit. I think I’m going to have to contact support and request I get moved to a different cluster, this is getting beyond ridiculous.
Email service is working again =)
Oh no, not again.
Today is still affecting my email,
Hope you guys can fix the issue ASAP,
and consolidate the email system ASAP,
it is one of the weakest point of Dreamhost,
other than that, one of the best web hosting company.
Good, working now!
Thank you!
Why is my e-mail client trying to download 227 new e-mails???? And of course, they’re not new.
Sorry, e-mail still flaky this morning. If you keep trying it will eventually work.
e-mail is flaky every day. There is something wrong with at least email every day. When it isn’t email, it’s a database server or router. The whole DreamHost infrastructure is most likely made on Acer 286 systems from the 80’s. There are no more pleases and thank yous for DreamHost.
They are just a bunch of amateurs.
If you’re whining about your mail, go point it at gmail and let them take your venom. It will look like it comes from your domain so you won’t look “cheap” but you’ll get the muscle of a decent sized mail provider.
But quit bitching about it and DO SOMETHING USEFUL.
ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
I have this problem some times every day.
I’m glad I followed the DH blog advice and moved my e-mail hosting over to Google apps.
Still cannot connect via my mail app. However, can logon to webmail. When will this be fixed?
I love how people think that DH suggesting that you have your email hosted by someone competent (google) rather than the provider you are *paying* (DH) is considered a “feature”.
::sigh::

Cannot connect to mail now and as your webmail does not support japanese, I am in trouble. By the way, this happened also yesterday. And apparently that kind of problem lasted for a while…
