Janky Cluster Slowness

Posted (June 11th, 2008 at 10:41 am PST) by Justin

We are experiencing some file server issues with the “janky” cluster which are causing some higher loads and email slowness. Our network file server admins are investigating the cause to get this fixed as soon as possible. Our apologies for the inconvenience. When we have further information we will update this post.

– Update –

At this time the file server is looking better, plus an additional file server is installed that will get some data moved to it as soon as possible to help balance the disk operations and prevent slowness. This will be an ongoing project as it does take time to move data but will help much for stability in the long run. We are continuing to monitor the situation and should we have further info we will post it here.

Ugh…AGAIN. Thanks for the update.

I really hate when this happens. Once a week.. -_-

This is beginning to cause problems with our clients. :(

13 hours after I submitted a ticket complaining about this with zero response, we finally get a dreamhoststatus.com update, nice! I hope everyone else’s Wednesday is going better than mine :P

I cant count the number of times that this has happened..

I can not believe that a friend of mine submitted a ticket early this morning right when the site went down, has only 4 pages that load on a rather large forum and no customer service at all, this looks very bad.

Are you experience FTP problems on ELECTRA ?

I try to connect using my FTP users and i get ROOT ACCESSSSSS - Its incredibleeeeeeeeeeeeee

Email was down earlier. Now both email and my blog are down. I noticed the dreamhost website is down too.

I can not believe

I have a website on Pandora which is part of Janky and is quite fast. I can connect via FTP and email is working fine.

this is getting very OLD - why is there sooooo much downtime????????

i’ve not received a single email today. neither have my cohorts. this is very bad timing for us. ugh.

Website works fine, we are receiving email but we cannot http://FTP... Please fix it soon guys!

Oh well, I guess our website doesn’t work fine :(

Oh, God! I’m new to Dreamhost, does this problem really happen that often??? Can’t believe!

I’ve been a member for a couple months now, and this is the first problem I’ve had. Some folks must be exaggerating. This is sure annoying though.

camila i have been a customer for a few weeks and this is the third major downtime now… it’s just silly.

hope you can resolve this issue immediately. my site is still experiencing slowness and downtimes from time to time.

I haven’t received any email to my computer since 3:09 p.m. on June 11. It is now 11:31 a.m. on June 12. I can’t find a phone number for technical support. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you check your webmail directly? Try sending something from webmail. IF you cannot see your webmail.yourdomain.com than you will need to do something else which I will tell after you check your webmail first. I’m on Janky and everything seems fine.

Still getting server timeouts even though this is resolved. At least dreamhost was kind enough to accurately name the servers.

Janky: “Poorly constructed or of poor quality”

Does anyone know if the Janky cluster is affecting the Swifty server? Or has anyone noticed that files seem to have been restored from as far back as May 8th?

Thanks

It is the 15th and I haven’t experience janky cluster slowness until today. This problem must have trickled down to me today. Because I am definately experiencing this now.

I’m frustrated that I can’t access my site or database. I can’t fill out a service ticket on the DreamHost site. I have had an excellent three-year relationship with DH, but this period Jan-Jun 08 has been trying.

this has been an outstanding issue ever since april …
